Everything Chris Jericho ever said on a documentary is wrong. Japanese crowds aren’t quiet and respectful, they just didn’t like him and WCW main events were actually good.
I followed this show every week but I never actually saw this match because we couldn’t order ppvs and this never came to the video rental store.
This thing is fanastic. Wonderful stalling, chaotic overbooking but it all works. And a great post match. I really just want to watch this thing again. I’m fairly certain I will find a spot for this.

I will third this. Hogan’s hair, pre match promo, wrestling in shades, were all awesome. Savage got a good pop coming out. Hogan was over the top and chewed the scenery, really good stuff. at times it felt to me like Savage was just another guy and didn’t bring much I’d what makes him such a singular figure.

I love that they do a lot of their classic spots but with the roles reversed. Hogan is in stalling & begging off mode like Randy was in their 80s matches. In the 80s, Randy would often start matches by attacking Hogan while wearing sunglasses (sometimes his cape too) leading to a spot where Hogan would make a quick comeback and put on Savage's glasses himself. This time it's Savage putting on Hogan's glasses & hilarious wig after Hogan starts with them on. This time it's Hogan hiding behind Elizabeth instead of Randy.
For people who go crazy over "call backs" to prior matches and deep psychology, this match really is full of those things.
Really makes you wish this happened 3 years earlier and we had stooging cheating heel Hogan vs Bret, babyface Lex, Undertaker etc.

1993 WWF could’ve really used this Hogan.

Seriously
I'd team him with Heel Doink and ruin every child's life.

Hmm, I'm closer to Scott Keith on this than the crowd here. I wouldn't go DUD since I can appreciate the role reversal and some of the minimalist offense but the action was weak and choppy and the overbooking clusterfuck pretty much killed this. Hogan hamming away did nothing for me and, as mentioned above, Savage was pretty muted.
