Jon Moxley vs Hangman Adam Page (Texas Death Match) [AEW Revolution 3/5/2023]
This match was what I was expecting and more. I’m one of the rare ones who isn’t tired of Moxley’s garbage matches and this fed the vampire in me. One thing I hate is when wrestlers build up a big blood feud blowoff like it’ll be the most violent spectacle ever and not even come close to it. This actually lived up to expectations. While it did get particularly excessive with the bricks as it didn’t really add to the ghastliness of this match but it doesn’t completely hurt the match either. In the story telling, Moxley really brought out the vicious animal in Adam Page and made him a dangerous threat at times even when he was being overwhelmed by Mox. I thought the ending with the chain was a fitting end to the match and brought back flashes of Terry Funk and Stan Hansen in their feud in All Japan.
While I’d have this lower then the Iron Man match, I’m seriously thinking of this being a contender for my list somewhere.

I have issues with this match that I’ll never be able to Reconcile with. The excessive nature of it is something I certainly wanted to enjoy more than I did.
That’s this feud and these two wrestlers in a nutshell. I like the idea of them, I like the idea of the feud and I like the idea of the match. But there’s not much mechanically or emotionally for me here.

Something I'm considering for the bottom of my list, and maybe the best deathmatch to take place in the US.

I thought it was awesome in terms of visually seeing the two do sick things to each other but really lacked structure and pacing - like a CZW match. Plus key spots of the match had a tendecy to go nowhere, such as the stomp with the bricks. A cool spot but that's it. But I tend to watch death matches to be grossed out as I like having such a visceral reaction to my wrestling and Page's blood spurting all over Moxley after being stabbed with a fork did just that. Not a MOTYC but something to remember. ***3/4

What an incredible brawl this was. Both guys are hugely over with the crowd before the match and even more after. Some matches involving barbed wire rely on anticipation. This one cuts to the chase and starts the maiming right away and escalates from there. The ending was crazy with Mox hung by a chain

I more or less echo makaiclub here, though I'd give it one star less.
This started off well with the intense brawling and the psychology of the finish was cool but, ultimately, this was just these two trading hardcore spots. I guess some were creative and pretty violent but the match as a whole lacked connective tissue and was sluggishly paced.

This seems to have enough support for a nomination. I thought it was awesome, but not something that rises to the level of serious consideration for me. This is on my MOTY list, but a step down from the matches I think of as serious contenders for the top spot as of right now.

I don't like gore much, and I'm certainly no Moxley fan, but this is a solid match. I'm surprised Meltzer gave it 5 stars. I'd probably give it 3.75 stars. Nice bumps throughout. I raved about this match months ago, but it's not quite as good as I first thought.
