Imagine you are Yoshihisa Yamamoto, the rising superstar and heir apparent to Akira Maeda. Just as your RINGS journey seems to be coming to fruition, along comes this guy roughly your age, having jumped from UWFi. Suddenly, in less than six months, he is the appointed the company's golden boy and you have become an afterthought.
This sets the tone for one of the most aggressive matches in RINGS history. Fierce and animosity-filled striking with Yamamoto going for broke and Tamura responding in kind. The matwork, while extremely hard-fought, perhaps lacks the dynamism of the best RINGS bouts and hence could be the thing keeping this to *only* a low-end MOTYC level. That's not exactly bad for 1996 and I'd rate this ahead of the non-Tamura Volk Han matches of the year as well.

Seconded, great great match. I thought this was already nominated, but I guess not! The visceral dislike Tamura and Yamamoto had for each other really added to their matches

Very good match. A nice preview of the classics to come.
