【Darby Allin vs. Miro - AEW.Dynamite.2021.05.12-哔哩哔哩】 b23.tv/aPiW9QbPandemic era wrestling was weird and bad and should not be remembered with any fondness but it is the time period where I fell in love with Darby Allin. This match was a couple weeks before they opened everything up so, it's a socially distanced Daily’s Place crowd. The background is that Darby won the title from Cody in November and a couple months later he was angry that he hadn’t defended it. So every week he just had a on Dynamite that blew away anything else they were doing in the company. I have no doubt in my mind that for the bulk of 2021 that Darby Allin was the best wrestler in the world. Also during this time Sting came to AEW and was immediately paired with Darby. I wasn’t sure how it would work but the two together were a perfect compliment and they hid each other’s weaknesses and brought out the best in each other. Onto the match. There's few things in wrestling more satisfying than a big man and a smaller man in a heated fight, especially if that smaller man is Darby getting ragdolled. Miro is a special kind of sadistic in this match and even though Darby has a scrappy underdog heart, there’s a point in the match where Darby realizes it’s over. He and Sting fist bump, I took this to mean that Darby is telling Sting he gave it his all and that’s he’s sorry if he let him down and Sting is saying that he’s proud of him and then Darby gives it once more all he’s got and goes down swinging. Darby matches are a gift

Watched it. I get the appeal. A little long & over the top for how thoroughly dominant Miro so it drags at times but lots of fun things happen.

I think the reason it drags out so much is because they were actively trying their rebrand Miro as a sick ass kicker. He debuted shortly before this as Kip Sabian’s video game playing, Mickey Mouse shirt wearing pal.
