【SAMOA JOE VS HOOK-哔哩哔哩】 b23.tv/Z7RW779I think this is Joe’s first defense as World champion. It kinda came out of nowhere the week before. I think there’s gonna be a run of these defenses until he loses it at the ppv. Both guys end up looking great. Hook was full of fire and has buzz for the first time in a while. Obviously he was t finna win but seeing a kid with nothing to lose go after a monster like Joe. Hell yea. Not something I’d put on a top 100 list but it’s worth watching. It was a lot of fun.

2nd Easily the best Samoa Joe singles match I've seen. Wow insanely high praise. Even over the Necro match?

Yes, but I'm not Joe fan so it's not like a normal person saying that. LOL
Not a fan of the Necro match last time i watched it.

Great stuff. Hook looks great here and Samoa Joe is awesome as usual. Don't necessarily agree with Elliot but it is up there for my favorite Joe matches.

This was phenomenal. Everything I want out of a Samoa Joe title defence. The sense of urgency and desperation reminded me of some of the short New Japan IWGP title matches from the mid 90s (as well as the Brock Lesnar title matches from a few years back). Hook looked great in defeat and ultimately Joe comes out looking like a great champion. LOVED it. Probably my favourite match of the year so far, alongside Takeshita/Darby.

More current wrestling needs to be like this, specially big matches. Great match.

Pefect monster vs. low-ranked challenger match. I really appreciate that they never made this look competitive, which is a giant pet peeve of mine when AEW runs matches with high ranked vs. low ranked guys. Hook had tons of fire when on offense and really made it felt like he was making the most of it because he knew Joe could cut him off at any time. The uranage onto the table is a spot of the year candidate but a more low-key awesome spot was Joe's killer back elbow he used to shut down Hook beforehand. I could've lived without the one-count but as far as one-count spots go it's easily in the top 1%, and Hook followed it up with awesome clotheslines that looked like he was putting his whole weight into them. Taz on commentary was fun too. Great month of TV matches for AEW -- honestly I think I liked this, Takeshita/Darby, and Christian/Dustin from this same show better than any of the Continental Classic matches in December, and I enjoyed that tournament a lot.
