When watching older matches I find people often focus on what isn't there compared to modern matches. I prefer to focus on the stuff that you never see in modern matches anymore, like the grit and struggle behind every hold that you get here. If you're unfamiliar with older this is a great intro as it's both one of the oldest matches available in new-full form and it's very compact. Has the feel of an epic world title match simply through making everything feel important without the need to go really long. Features some of the best lock-ups you'll ever see and some great tackles. Strong candidate for the back part of my list.

Should make the back end of my list as well. Probably the oldest truly great match. As intense and gritty as anything since and filled with a constant sense of struggle.

3rd. Awesome match and a great representative for the old style of wrestling. The LOCK UPS and SHOULDER TACKLES here are awesome. The general dynamic of whily Londos vs. Nagurski trying to gore him like a bull was great. Also so many fascinating touches suches the kip ups to avoid a pin and general sense of struggle and excitement. A lesson in how to build a match around the simpler things.

Glad this got nominated. I haven't seen it yet so I am excited to make this a priority.

Watched this for the first time, and it was great. I'm pretty sure it's not going to make my list (there's a lot of 'just great' matches, tbh), but this right now is my favourite match of the Golden Era. Slippery Londos vs Powerhouse Nagurski, a classic story told beautifully, with great technique from both guys, too. Love to see how big they made something so vulgar like a lock up, and yeah, those shoulder tackles from Bronko were also amazing. ****.

There's a lot to love about this match. This feels like a constant struggle with both guys fighting for every inch to gain an advantage. I especially loved the forearms being exchanged while in a lockup. The finish was excellent as Londos uses a cheap arm crank while Nagurski's in the ropes and then takes advantage of the injured arm to get the win. This will likely find a spot on my list.

My first look at a truly early match, and I can truly say I was a fan. Not sure if it will make my list, but a fun contest with some gritty mat work and exchanges. Not to mention those tackles looking absolutely brutal. Glad I watched it.

I can say that this was fun to watch. I don't know if it will make my list or how high but it was interesting from a sociological perspective.

It will not make my list. It's too far from what i'm used to watch. I was bored most of the time. But I liked the sideheadlock, headlocktakeover and front face locks applied in this match. It confirms that those holds are very old.

Awesome match. I had never seen this before although I've been aware of it for years and have a historical interest in Londos. Its just sometimes starting to watch super old school matches feels like homework even though I always end up digging them.
This was an interesting match early on while they were doing their super intense lockups and trading holds but it was more like "cool, this is interesting." Then they started punching and elbowing each other in the face as hard as they could and I'm hooked. This is like a great Regal vs Finlay or Ikeda vs Ishikawa match. They just beat the shit out of each other. Everything they do is so intense and gritty. Londos' counter to the snap mare was spectacular and my favorite part of the match. Great stuff. I'm glad I finally watched it!

Is the 15 minute version the full match or close to it? I sort of love this. Not sure it makes my list, but it is awesome.
