The other MOTDC produced between this pairing which may be even better than their 2011 match as Virus faces a more confident opponent. Pretty violent matwork and another sublime AJPW/lucha blend epic 3rd fall.
Full review from WKO:
Great great great match, with not just tremendous wrestling on display but also a beautiful story While the lightning match wasn't on a high level it established that Maya Jr. could beat Virus, so in this match they went out to settle it. The first fall standing work just fits that perfectly - two guys ripping violently at eachother and exchanging nasty little shots while refusing to give an inch or go to the mat. Once Virus is able to get Maya down he catches him with some whacky inverted twister thing. Second fall is all matwork with Virus blowing his opponent off before he's caught with impact moves. And the third is just an epic struggle. Maya Jr. was dominating hitting several dives until Virus was able to turn the match around. The whole sequences around that was just great. After that it's all Virus while Maya is mostly using rollups to try and catch him. This really gives Lucero/Hechicero some serious trouble for singles MOTY

I don't agree that this was at the level of Lucero v. Hechicero, but I will second it. It was a great match, and felt like an excellent second piece of the puzzle between these two. My feeling at the time was that this had some incredible false finishes that felt especially dramatic by the standards of the era, but I confess I haven't watched it since it aired. My memory is that this had more impressive matwork than the first match, but I may have liked the first one better. I'll need to watch them back to back.

This really and it's a great example of a technical lucha title match. Just two masters hitting the mat and working holds to build an amazing match. This would be a considered match for me.
