I have pondered nominating this match for a fair bit. I appreciate that it's not what most would consider a 'classic' match', but to me, this is so much of what makes pro wrestling great. This is a glorious example of big time US wrestling. Hogan v Warrior may not have technical excellence, but it has drama by the ton, emotion coming from every pore. This match just feels huge in every way. Even now, 28 years on, I can still watch the match and get absolutely absorbed by it.

I'll second this one
I was actually just thinking about this match yesterday because I came across the somewhat popular claim that Reigns v Brock was the best WM main event. I started thinking about WM mains and how this match has always been a weird part of my wrestling life. When I was a kid I wanted to rent this VHS every time we went to the store. I wanted to watch this match over and over again. I loved Warrior. I was never a huge hogan fan. Then I got older... got out of wrestling and back into wrestling. Became a work rate guy (still am if I am honest) and really found this match (and just about everything from Warrior off putting. As is the case with a lot of people, I grew an appreciation for Hogan as a main event worker and even some of what Warrior did. I expanded my horizons. I rewatched this match last year around Mania time and I really came away loving it. It wasn't the most crisp piece of work or anything, but as karlpg said, it had drama for days. Not many matches feel bigger than this. It will be a REAL long shot for my list. I would need to move from having an appreciation for this type of thing to falling in love with the style, but I think it absolutely deserves consideration. it is a great match.

I'll third this.
This match is just put together so perfectly with the booking, I find it hard not to get sucked in. The crowd heat is fantastic, both guys are clearly working their asses off and the finish is great. Even Hogan handing over the belt to pass the torch gets me every time in the moment.
It's great stuff, and definitely in consideration.

I have seen this many times. It is better than it should be but not for me. Maybe it something you had to be there for. Much prefer Savage vs Warrior which will make my list.

If this were a sentimental favourites list I'd have this in contention for number 1. Watching Mania 6 on Sky Movies back in the day got me into wrestling. It won't make my list but I do still enjoy the simple dynamic of two massive steroid guys so evenly matched, bearhug for bearhug, knuckle lock for knuckle lock.

This is the first time I’ve rewatched this in years and it feels more like a great moment than a great match. An unbelievable crowd and top-notch aura help to take some less-than-stellar execution and at-times flawed psychology and make something that lasted in our memories. It was fun watching it but it doesn’t stand up against other GOAT matches and after watching the FMW brawl it wasn’t even the best match that day.

Rewatched this recently and I'm about as big a Hogan fan as there is and it's not that great. Don't think it would make my top 100 HOgan matches. A good match & a great moment though.

Worth watching, not worth thinking about too hard.
