Kenny Omega vs. Tetsuya Naito (NJPW G-1 Climax Final-8/13/2017)
Arguably one of the best matches of 2017 if not the absolute best. From the very beginning, the tension is palpable because you really feel that next to Okada, these two are the absolute best in New Japan. Despite going over 30 minutes, the action and urgency never lets up for a single minute. Both Kenny and Naito are hitting each other with the most violent, dangerous moves possible (table piledriver that was almost botched, DDT on the turnbuckle)in order to put the other away. And while there is criticism of the multiple finishers on Naito’s part, considering the stakes of the match it only makes sense that both guys dig down as deep as they can to keep fighting. There was also some interesting storytelling with Naito. His frustration and inability to put Kenny away leads to him going back to old habits in the form of the Stardust Press, which represents his prior persona and failures as the Stardust Genius. Of course he misses because he could never finish the job before, and it almost costs him big time.
Incredible display of offense, urgency, and storytelling.

Bomb fest for the ages. Yeah, the same kinda match as AJ vs Cena at the Rumble (which I loved) was, only better. Not the absolute masterpiece their last year's G1 match was, but holy shit nonetheless. But don't do that again. MOTYC.

Holy fuck yes!
This is my 2nd favourite match of last year, and it may be the greatest spotfest I've ever seen. Yeah, it was all about big moves, but every bomb was earned and sold, with good transitions between each one of them. Some of the spots here are just INSANE. It's not as complex as their former match, but I love this kind of matches where both guys know that they have to give all that they got from start to finish if they wanna beat each other. Even when it was pretty clear that Naito was going to win, they made me believe Kenny had a real chance throughout the climax, so wonderful job from both crazy guys. Naito's win here is one of the greatest of this decade, I really enjoyed it a lot. Top 30 material for me.

In terms of bombfests worth getting invested in this blows any of the Styles/Cena matches of the time out of the water.

Didn't really enjoy this one. Kind of a slog.

These Omega/Naito matches are becoming comfort matches for me.

Yeah this is a dumb big spotfest done to perfection. They just know they won't beat each other otherwise. Being behind Naito in this is one of the funniest experiences I've had.

Is it just me or does Tetsuya Naito has the best character based moveset ever. The way he executes his moves makes me see him as a wrestler who is intelligent and will take any opportunities to attack or end the match. Which is fantastic whether he is playing the face or the heel in the match. Other than the rock, Naito has my favorite character based moveset of any wrestler.

Yeah, his moveset is awesome and a big part of his game. Spectacular on its own, yet everything is purposeful and calculated. It also looks like he has an answer for every possible situation, while most of them are neck-focused. Hell, he invented the Destino as a perfect counter to the Rainmaker, due to him losing to Okada at WK 8.
That's a reason why his big matches feel more enjoyable to me in the middle parts, instead of looking like filler waiting to get to the bombs at the end like almost every current big match worker.

Woah 😮, when did he first use the destino?
I understand why so many fans are behind Naito, he is one amazing wrestler with a great moveset and character, and great lore behind him.

I think he first used the Destino against Tanahashi in the G1 in 2015
