Ric Flair vs. Blackjack Mulligan Texas Death Match (10-23-1978)
Alright folks, there's a great write up of this feud over at Mid-Atlantic Gateway but I'll try to catch y'all up the best I can. Flair and Mulligan were best friends, running wild both in the ring and outside of it all over the territory; Mulligan was the established veteran bad ass and Flair was the up and coming sidekick. However, championships got in the way of the two great friends and things really got kicked into another gear when Flair destroyed Mulligan's prized cowboy hat, so of course Mulligan ripped apart one of Flair's most extravagant robes. After fighting all over the territory, a Texas Death Match is signed between the two.
The quick story to this match is Flair being the proverbial student against Mulligan's master, and it works brilliantly with Flair taking control and pummeling Blackjack with a hidden foreign object, only for Mulligan to out heel the actual heel and take control using his own hidden foreign object. The individual falls are worked pretty smartly and they're all believable, from claw holds to pile drivers we see it all. Of course, this is Flair and a Texas Death Match we're talking about, so he taps a gusher and its one of the more memorable ones as it leaves a blood stained outline of his head on the mat. This one will be on my ballot for sure, and at a brisk ten minutes its an easy watch as well.

Second.
Great brawl. This was a Texas Death Match. Flair juiced. Great crowd heat. Not sure if it will be in my top 100, but I enjoyed watching this match.

Are we sure on the date? The video I have with this date is JIP with about 8 minutes of match. Looks great.
