El Dandy vs Angel Azteca (NWA World MW Championship - EMLL - 6/1/1990)
What a technical masterpiece this match is. This is a match that I can't help but call beautiful. It is a true war with all the blood and and the drama, but it is also technically sound, showcasing next level chemistry between these two on this given night. This is one of my favorite lucha matches ever and I am looking forward to revisiting and comparing to matches across contexts.

I second this nomination. Classic match during El Dandy's peak year. Either this or the Apuestas match with El Satanico are the standouts from one of the best years ever. Beautiful back and forth mat work that feels like Flair/Steamboat. This is a top 50 contender for me. Probably one of the 5 best lucha title matches I've ever seen.

The most beautiful match ever. The most graceful yet brutal mat wrestling I've ever seen. Top 20 lock.

Just watched this for the second time in my life, first one being year and a half ago when I wasn't familiarized with lucha yet. Right now, I consider this a total lucha matwork masterpiece. Awesome and clever exchange of holds, with incredible long-time selling from Dandy and a tercera caída full of drama. Not as incredible as Espanto/Santito from '88, which is my favourite mexican match of all time, but I love this and I hope it makes my list. **** 1/2.

I find the match awesome. El Dandy is much better than his opponent even if he's not bad either at all. I like the sequence consisting at Azteca applying a submission hold to the legs while El Dandy is trying to reach the rope. I think the crowd was supporting him. It really shows that you can make great things in a wrestling match even if you settle with classic mat wrestling the majority of the match. I like also the kind of submission holds they adoped.

Really great technical wrestling battle. The falls really felt like they were earned. The kimura variation Azteca used to win the first fall was awesome. Dandy kept working away at roll-ups and got one with a crucifix in the second fall. The pace was at its most intense in the third fall and it felt like it ended at just the right time.

Rewatched this one at the weekend and it further cemented this as my favourite lucha title match. Perfect mix of grace and struggle in everything they do.

Def one on my rewatch list. I haven't seen it in a while.

Sadly this didn't hold up as well as I remembered it, but it is still a very enjoyable lucha libre mat clinic most of the time. It won't be on my list, although I really wanted it to be. Also, the commentary is so fucking annoying even for CMLL standars.

The most beautiful match ever. The most graceful yet brutal mat wrestling I've ever seen. Top 20 lock. Well this is one wildly outdated review. This didn't make any of the ballots I submitted and actually fell out of favor for a few years there. But on the latest replay, it did hold up as a great match even if the praise above is hyperbolic. Attention-holding submission-based battle with interesting character work from Dandy. Dramatic 3rd fall due to the urgency and some surprisingly effective near-falls, even if some of the selling was spotty.
