Mitsuharu Misawa & Yoshinari Ogawa vs. Kenta Kobashi & Jun Akiyama (AJPW 3/6/99)
tl;dr an outstanding AJPW tag largely due to Ogawa and his Ogawa-isms. Great character dynamic and the usual high end AJPW action.
Full review:
About the first half of this was solid AJPW style action with lots of fun Ogawa-isms thrown in for a breath of fresh air. BURNING rudo it up! Misawa uses lucha moves and comebacks to counter the double teams! Ogawa beats Kobashi in a strike exchange! (apparently the trick is to just punch him). Kobashi rewards him with one of the nastiest stretches ever! The 2nd half was about as great as any AJPW style finishing stretch with Misawa being taken out and Ogawa having to step up big time, and the added bonus of Ogawa's cradles and jawbreakers being a nice change from the usual bombs and stiff movezzz. Plenty of great double team/partner help spots like you only see in those AJPW epics. How they could put all that stuff together so well in a 30 minute match is beyond me, but that's the magic of pro wrestling!

For me, this is the best match that occurred in AJPW between 1/20/1997 and the split. My PWO review
"Always really liked the dynamic of this match. Misawa's former two tag partners vs. him and his latest protege, whose style is completely different. I think this is the closest Kobashi's come to working as a heel. He is so aggressive and vicious in this with just amazing offense. All the false finishes near the end are some of the best I've ever seen. Misawa' selling was kind of spotty at times but that's my only complaint."

Third.
Tremendous tag match and a serious candidate for best match of 1999. I actually thought Misawa and Ogawa worked a bit more heelish in this match than Kobashi and Jun. But Misawa is probably the greatest clean-up hitter tag partner of all time as his 2-on-1 work was terrific. Only complaint is that it felt like Ogawa worked a bit too 50/50 at times with the larger and more powerful Kobashi, but that's really the only negative thing I can say about such an amazing match. The finishing stretch is really one of the greatest in the history of AJPW tags, and that's saying something. Such tremendous displays of offense and some really awesome saves.
