Invader 1 vs Al Perez (Street Fight - WWC - 10/26/1986) If this were a favorites list, this would be a strong #1 contender. This is everything I could ever want out of pro wrestling. Punching, selling, blood, psychology, teasing attempted homicide and literal attempted homicide. I have this ranked #41 on my rough draft, but I could really see myself rating this in the top 10. AN AL PEREZ MATCH! Invader 1 is just the greatest. This is magnificent. Anybody who like Magnum vs Tully or lucha brawls needs to watch this.

Seconded. Holy crap, they bring the brutality; I honestly don’t even remember if they get in the ring at all. This plays out and looks like some kind of underground fight club type of thing you’d find somewhere in an unnamed third world country, and I mean that in the best possible way. They just beat the hell out of each other all over this multicolored floor and it looks awesome. And oh yeah, there’s some type of underground room beneath the arena, and they throw each other down the stairs.

These two convey that they desperately hate each other, a level of emotion I was not expecting from Al Perez to be sure. It was a knock down drag out brawl from the word go but somehow it kept escalating. I was freaked out when each guy was dangling over the stairs. I didn’t think they would pay it off but what do I know?
I was skeptic but this Al Perez is a long way away from the Latin heartthrob in World Class. Plus that multi-colored floor is really cool. I dont know if it will make my list but I am glad I watched

Yeah. I am glad this got pushed through on Elliot's recommendation. I was a huge fan of this match. Not a lot else to say about it. Lots of grit and violence.
Right now I am going to need to watch more PR and then come back to some of the matches that really stick to me. My only real background in it is the Hansen vs Colon feud, which is obviously amazing. I came away thinking this might be a match I think is great but sort of has too many brawls that I love to compete with or it might be a match that the second time i watch it I think its an all timer and a lock.

Good rec. It's always easy for me to sit down and enjoy a match built around blood, selling, and punches. I agree that the setting and attire of the participants give this a really unique feel, and that's the main thing that makes this stand out to me. Lack of a clear back story does hurt it a bit, though. I was taken off guard by the finish with Perez walking as I assumed Invader to have been the heel between him jumping Perez at the start, the low blow, and the chair shot. I don't think it's top 100 material as there's been so many brawls that have been worked similarly but with a more clear story and with more bells and whistles, but definitely an enjoyable watch.

I had to rewatch this after the Fujita/Shiozaki staredown match to cleanse my wrestling pallet. I had this ranked #10 the first time around which feels about right. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wa7j9MLYNTI

Invader I vs Al Perez (Street Fight – CWP – 10/26/1986) Current Rank: NA Trending: Up
There is something about the PR audience and its heat that punches through time and space. They elevate this strange brawl around these dull but colorful mats sprawling over this gym. It creates a weird and sort of wonderful aesthetic. This match (and the one I will talk about nxt) feels as much like a bar fight as any match I have ever seen. It is a half drunk, half coked up brawl where it feels like one of them is going to break down and pull out a gun at any minute. At the point where they are trying to throw each other down concrete stairs I can’t help but think this is wrestling perfection, but by the time we hit the end, I’ve always come down a bit on it. There is something about the end that leaves me wanting more and I’m not sure if it is in a good way. That might be the only thing that keeps this off my list, because on this watch it has clearly jumped a few matches that I have dropped.

Such an incredibly captivating match. They don't go into the ring at all!!! Great stuff from both guys, I'm not sure if this is my favorite match from Puerto Rico or the Starr/Invader 3 match.
