I figured instead of making a million different comparison threads, I'd make a general thread for people to use and if any specific discussion really takes off, we can spin it off into its own thread.
Sooo. To start us off, which matches are better and why?
Gilbert Cesca vs Billy Catanzaro (60's French Catch) VS Mitsuharu Misawa vs Kenta Kobashi (AJPW 1/20/97)
Nick Bockwinkel vs Curt Hennig (AWA 11/21/86) VS John Cena vs Umaga (WWE 1/28/07)
Akira Hokuto vs Shinobu Kandori (AJW 4/2/93) VS Misawa & Kobashi vs Kawada & Taue (AJPW 6/9/95)
Choshu & Yatsu vs Jumbo & Tenryu (AJPW 1/28/86) VS The Revival vs DIY (NXT 11/19/16)
Jumbo & Co vs Misawa & Co (AJPW 10/19/90) VS The Shield vs Wyatt Family (WWF 2/23/14)
El Satanico vs El Dandy (EMLL 12/14/90) VS Jerry Lawler vs Bill Dundee (Memphis 12/30/85)
Stan Hansen vs Kenta Kobashi (AJPW 7/27/93) VS Ric Flair vs Ricky Steamboat (WCW Clash 4/2/89)
El Hijo del Santo vs Negro Casas (CMLL 9/19/97) VS Stan Hansen vs Andre the Giant (NJPW 9/23/81)
5x5 Gauntlet (NJPW 4/14/84) VS Misawa & Akiyama vs Kawada & Taue (AJPW 12/6/96)
Kiyoshi Tamura vs Volk Han (RINGS 1/22/97) VS Brock Lesnar vs John Cena (WWE Extreme Rules 2012)

This is probably a very good idea. My original idea is that we could have a sub-forum within discussions for comparisons and contrasts, but I don't have the ability to do it. I talked to Grimmas about it, but assume it got back burnerred.

This thread never took off so I'm revitalizing it. I thought about deleting my original 10 comps because that is more daunting. But I'll leave them up in case anyone wants to take a stab at any of those comps.
But I wanted to revitalize this specifically to ask people to compare two matches and tell me which one they like more and why. Will both of them make your list, only one if so which one. Etc etc.
So
Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker (Hell in a Cell 97) vs Shawn Michaels vs Mankind (Mind Games 96)
These are two matches that have almost unanimous praise. I can't honestly recall anyone ever saying they didn't like them. We've got Micro calling Mind Games the best US match of all time and multiple people calling Hell in a Cell a top 10 contender.
Which is better and why? Are these the two best Michaels matches in your opinion? Which Michaels performance do you prefer. He's great in both matches but really different in terms of working style. Is Mind Games the best Foley match (if not, then what)? Is Hell in a Cell the best Taker match? Is this the best Hell in a Cell?

God this is such a tough one, ha. Both are absolutely making my list and both are top 25 contenders at this time. As of right now, I have the Hell in a Cell match ahead of the Mind Games match and always have, but I really wouldn't be surprised if that switched down the line. I would still put Funk-Flair GAB ahead of these as the best U.S. match ever, but it's really close.
These are absolutely the two best Shawn Michaels matches of all time, at least of all of the matches I've seen of his. Mind Games sees him as an unbelievably fired up and gritty babyface, willing to go to any lengths to beat a much stronger and more dangerous opponent in Mankind. In the pre-match promo, Shawn is clearly nervous but trying to keep a cool front. When the match starts he explodes out the gate and really controls most of the first half of the match. It shows that he knows that even if he's afraid of Mankind, the only way he can hope to beat him is by dictating the pace and not giving up one inch to Mankind. Mankind does turn the tide eventually, but Shawn really begins to fight dirty by going after the knee by slamming it on the casket. He also tries to break Mankind's hand and take away the Mandible Claw by hitting it repeatedly with a chair. Even if you can't condone his actions, you understand and respect that he's just trying to survive. I also legit wonder if Shawn began to shoot just a little bit in the beginning when he went for his normal cross body spot off the turnbuckle and Mankind was out of place. He seemed legit pissed and was hitting Mick a bit hard with those shots.
The Hell in a Cell match is different as Shawn is in full-on cowardly yet still crafty heel. He bumps and sells like crazy for Taker and as JR points out, he can't dictate the pace of the match, which is a stark contrast to the Mind Games match. His tenacity and toughness allows him just long enough to capitalize on a mistake by Taker and he tries to take him out with a piledriver on the stairs. Both matches are similar in the regard that Shawn is willing to go to any lengths to win, but his motivations and tactics are different. But while the Mind Games match focuses on Shawn as an offensive babyface with smart psychology, Hell in a Cell is much more Shawn as the heel finally getting his comeuppance only to steal the match in the most wonderfully chickenshit manner ever.
I would have to say that Mind Games is the best Foley match and Hell in a Cell is the best Taker match. Mick just does such a terrific job appearing vulnerable yet still a dangerous madman. He still finds a way to maintain that aura of "holy shit how do you keep this guy down?" His bumping and selling is terrific and I love how when Shawn destroys his hand, he actually does not go for the Mandible Claw once. He has to try a variety of moves to put Shawn away. It's a nice change of pace from the typical overcoming an injury to hit your big finisher comeback.
As for Taker, he does a fantastic job of not just using his size and strength to throw Shawn around, but by using the environment. As the first Hell in a Cell match, there was a LOT that could have gone wrong. Usually there's a bit of trial and error when doing a gimmick match for the first time, but you don't have that at all here. The use of the cell doesn't come off as contrived because the whole focus of the match is Taker having every single means available to punish Shawn without fear of interference or escape. And when Shawn does manage to escape, which basically went against the purpose of the stipulation, the injured cameraman angle prevents it from being cheap. The same goes for Kane's interference and it honestly hasn't aged one bit. It was literally lightning in a bottle because every time they've tried to recreate the Hell in a Cell interference it's been awful. But you have a heavily-hyped debut basically hand Shawn the victory when it seemed like there was no chance in hell he ever would have won this type of match. So long story short, you have the greatest Hell in a Cell match ever.

This is a great idea and the original comps were fun and interesting to compare so i thought i will take a dig at them. Comparing is a necessary but hardest part of any project. Anyay, misawa vs kobashi 1/20/97 vs cesca vs cantazzaro 60s french catch - misawa kobashi and actually pretty easily and comfartably as cesca cantazzaro is not even my fav french catch match which is ben chemoul vs cesca. The reason is that i dont think cesca cantazzaro is an all time classic or anything its obviously a great match and 85 percent ie. Better than 4 stars but it was disspointing compared to the best european/british WOS aka dalemartin/joint promotions matches as they blow it away and are better. Reason is why i am not a crowd heat guy and view wrestling in a vaccum the heat adds to matches thats a small point in favour of the wos matches and misawa kobashi for that matter. Any match even cesca/cantazzaro felt hollow with no reaction to g ganso bomb even if no crowd reaction due to french is expected. And misawa kobashi escalated better than any match ever and almost perfectly with the physcallity and violence being played as such things were sold as death and there was an attention to detail in it with the elbows us and the elbow block miswas roar etc. The cesca cantazzaro match had strong lockups and good matwork but the matwork wasnt as great as RINGS and you have to compare matchds at highest level. And it didnt escalated in a way i wished with the ganso bomb coming early. It was violence but its hard to feel in that enivorment .the ranas and matwork had great struggle and strong violent feeling but they didnt feel like they were trying to win and it was exhibitionary type no context didnt helped things. The strikes were fucking awesome with heads going off and the lock ups were strugglesit but with respect thesz did lock ups as good and londos nagurski was better lockups and the strikes wont make ishikawa ikeda wince while ridculosily stiff they go back and forth in end with great spots execution struggle uncoopertivness etc. But to me there was no rythm it was shot badly and it was hard to know who was who lol. While misawa kobashi like i said had unparllel escalation attetion to detail. Selling that wasmulti layered great character work hot crowd great transitions. Fucking stiff strikes Good urgency and everything was sold like death and deadly headrops were sold as suchas good if not better execution than cesca cantazzaro. The french match had better techinque skill in execution etc. But misawa kobashi matched them in realism close in strikes stiffness matched for violence less unconperrtive. french match had the holy shit factor and cool violent spots too but asaide all that misawa kobashi was better in everything else i pointed out like tranistions selling deadly head drops multi layered selling and story escalation context up there in strikesand even better in brutality and violence. So while the french match is great an easy win for misawa kobashi. And lets be real the ganso bomb didnt have the thud or on skull on taking brute of ajpw and misawa kobashi is 97 percent and top ten contender easy 5 stars.

Second comparison - tsuruta gun vs super gen vs sheild vs wyatts. This one is a bit hard for me the 10/19/90 is a great six man but not the best 6 man from this feud far from that but better than the EC sheild vs wyatts match. Now the sheild and wyatts six man was a match where the term self conscious apply more than any of the shawn vs taker matches even if the term is bad. The crowd chanting this is awesome while workers basking wasnt good the work was wweish with the running at camera stuff. They try to focus on getting good camera shots is bad. Anyway the strikes in that match sucked . The realism was more than most wwe matches with harper rope running in a unpreditcable way nd it feelhng uncontroable and outta nowhere. There was a fine sense of controable choas and escalation. The transitions were fun. The violence wasnt that much and seth rollins hitting dives wasnt good. The narrative of sheild being beaten im their own game was good. The moves execution was solid. It was a good match with a invasted crowd great narrative that was executed well etc. 84 percent and a contender. But the ajpw six man was better due to. Better execution more realistic strikes. The narrative of everyone coming into their roles. The brutal nose work . Hatread the violent strikes. The hard moves. Clear narrative good escalation urgency. Character work ie kawada and taues hate. Just a greatly worked match . The drama at the end was great while i am not a drama guy 87 percent and a solid contender . A bit better due to more focused narrative violence and the execution being better. There being perils behind rope running was good in both matches. But the ajpw match had no camera whoring for the lack of a better term. Imo the ajpw match was a bit better due to the reasons stated above. Both are solid contenders for the list.

Third comparison - 1/28/86 jumbo tenryu vs chosu yatsu vs revival vs diy toranto. Oh man please. This is the easeist one so far and overall likely and it itsnt even close. The ajpw tag isnt perfect by any means but is a classic that blows away revival vs diy. The nxt tag is one of the most overrated matches ever. The nxt tag had drama but the ajpw tag had way more drama . The ajpw match had a unpreditable feel. It was violent had better rope running in the outta nowhere way. Way more heat. And the violent bursuts and trying to contain the violence was good. An epic heat and feel. The sudden way they throw each other. The unique moves and the way they throw at each other with brutal strikes with no sense of consious and just like a fight just throwing rentenlessly. The great stomps and rib work and the great bladejob. The execution of moves was great with the slams having a thud the strikes execution wasnt great but worked due to it being like a sloppy ugly fight. It was violent and they didnt hold back. I am not a crowd heat guy but no crowd heat feels hollow and it adds when there is heat. This match had a all time great heat and urgency was good not much escalation. But great dynimc and character work. Out of world drama and heat that was unparalled. Had the feel of a fight with sudden urgency and just throwing full force at each other the strikes were violent . The blood was nice violence and visual. The early slaps by yatsu and jumbos reaction by payback. The mental runins and paybacks. And a finish that was saytasfying with tenryu somehow winning while choshu wasnt able to save scarp. 95 percent one of the best 80s tags and a top 30 contender. The nxt tag had great drama but the ajpw tag smoked it in drama. The execution was fine with no botches and alright strikes but again the ajpw tag had better. The senqunces was dramatic but coregraphed. The rollup into kick into package is stuff rollins gets shit for while the nxt guys arent. The clear narrative and good dynimc with the heelwork paybacks spots and the overall heelwork were fun. But the selling was usual get your shit in inconsensity. The character work was fine. The finish was good . The perials and layout was engaging. The falls and comebacks were well done. But the senqunces were what jetlag will say junior epic i just cant getinto the senqunces that were choreographed. Not much struggle either with the rollups shit just happening. I like this style more than my shoot style comarades but its my least favourite too. Good match due to reasons stated above. But overrated as fuck 75 percent no chance at a contender for making my list. The nxt tag didnt have violence either like the aj tag. I dislike those tropues from 80s us terriorty era that they bringed in that match. Nxt is so overrated the jumbo choshu tag by a country mile.

Fourth comparison - bock vs hennig brodway vs cena vs umaga LMS. This is hard so lets discuss each match. Bock vs hennig is one of my fav not only brodaway but us matches ever. It is such a great match due to a variety of reasons. I watched it only recently. The narrative is simple and they show progression in the match. Which is so hard but here they execute it to perfection. Not gonna lie the early pace was methodical. And it may be boring to some. But it set the tone perfectly. Curt trying to take it to bockwinkel on the match. Growing in confidence. The limb work as usual from bock was vicious and focused. Sold well by hennig as well. Not perfect but good execution of strikes harmless matwork. A realistic feel with it being more 2 athleates matchingup. Rather than the awful tropues that makes 80s us unbearable. The match had intensity. And it escalated well. Bock realized he was catched up. They holds were compelling.and not boring at all. Everything was sold greatly in the long term selling damage too. The final half was epic blood hot crowd and unpreditable feel. The exicting final four and limb work finally getting bock crumpled. The last minutes were tense as fuck. Great finish too. My fav 80s us match. And a top 50 contender 94percent.cena vs umaga is tj hawkes best and only six star match ever. The rib work is brutal cena sold well. They beat the fuck outta each other. The violence is escalated well. The hope spots and tranistions are well timed. The strikes worked in this match due to the narrative. It felt realistic in a wwe enivorment. The execution was well. The narrative of umaga using weapons for his own harm and weapons being cenas only chance was executed and worked well. The blood was epic feeled. It didnt felt like camera sucking. There was no super cena as he was legit shooked and sold even after the match. And cena somehow getting a chance due to umaga missing big spots in tense moments. Cena using weapons intensely and the intensity by him was great. The legandary finish with cena trying to cut umagas neck and suffociating him giving everything he had and taking him out was great with umaga getting life choked out of him by a shooked cena. Umaga sold well. It was a great brawl maybe the best wwe brawl ever. 85 percent and a solid contender. One of the best cena and wwe matches ever. But imo atleast bock hennig is better due to reasons stated above. Bock hennig was better escalation. Better execution and techinque and more epic. I have my stylistic perferences and am biased to matwork epic limbwork sell etc. I love brodways in general long matches too. Bock hennig felt more realistic title match between athkeats while cena umaga was a brwal. And my problems with the hollow wwe presenation was there. The enivorment and style hurt it. Cenas strikes execution while worked with his character and context werent realistic or good execution. Bock hennig escalated better with the limb work and selling of exhuastion as well as payoff and finish.

Fifth comparison - 6/9/95 ajpw tag vs hokuto vs kandori 1st match. This one is the hardest to me as both matches are top ten contenders imo. Maybe top 5 even. Hokuto kandori used to be mz motd for the 90s. And while not by a wide margin anymore its still upthere. It has everything a wrestling match needs. From the opening bell to the brwal this was good. But picked on another level after the tombstone to the table. Hokuto gets a brutal blood. And the intensty and realism picks up on another level. Then after that its just a wild war of attration with perfect escalated brutality. The piledrivers were brutal and a turning point. It had everything you could ask for. Realism of strikes, violence and brutality. Gruesome epic blood.headrops. Perfect narrative executed greatly. The downtown in mid half wasnt boring. And it made sense due to the narrative and slowed things down. You cant always go at a fast pace there always gonna be things like that in these matches. Not to mention the heat and the urgency displayed great brwaling and bombs. The all time great selling by hokuto selling the bladejob as trying to fire back and get a chance against the shooter while dying from loss and pain. Kandori had a great performance every way delievering perfectly doing things. One of the best matches of the 90s and all time. 98 percent. Now with the ajpw tag words cant do it justice. Just almost close to a perfect wrestling match as you can get. The opening exchange with taue being pissed off and attacking kentas knee was great. Kawada had enough of misawa as hatred absorbed him. And that led to one of the greatest things in wrestling history. The kicks off the apron. Misawas old face injury got back after getting his head at guardrail. After that this was non stop violence. Just perfect attack at kentas knee and misawas face. The cheapshots payback was also great. Kawadas disrespect leading to misawa killing him but taue saving and misawas comeback was great .epic focuse on face with all the offense unloading. Misawa and kobashi helping each other was great and led to kobashi getting more self realization. Then after kawada survived the comeback. It was clear misawa was fucked up as the comeback wasnt able to finish either. Kobashi trying to suck up pain holding off both and foolishy going for the moonsault was great character stuff. The NOMDK and the ftermath with misawas being too fucked up to be stoic and not wanting to give kawada win was great. The ending with kenta trying to help misawa after all the sacirifices misawa made was great trying to cover up after being fuck up to give misawa a chance to recover was great and didnt derail it at all. Ending and post match are epic. The match had perfect brutal execution stiffness. Brutality almost non stop violence and escalation matchhng up with the narrative that they executed well. The headrops being deadly and sold as such. The perfect focus to bodypart great offense execution. The unholy subtle selling matching with character. Perfect tranistions nonstop focused violence that escalated.and the all time great heat that hasnt been pointed and couldnt be praised enough makes this 98 percent too. And one of the greatest matches of all time aswell. I used to prefer hokuto kandori but now prefer the ajpw tag. I dont have anymore words other than reasons stated above. Both matches are top 5 contenders and doesnt have any real faults

Misawa vs Kobashi is better than Cesca vs Catanzaro because the selling is off the chart and it's the wonderful story of the courageous Kobashi trying to defeat his long time friend and rival and ace called Misawa. It's also my currently greatest match of all time.
I saw the match between Umaga and Cena the last time several years ago. I didn't like it that much but I need to rewatch it one day. Bockwinkel vs Hennig is better than Umaga vs Cena because the matwork is amazing. Moreover, I like 60 minutes matches and it's my favorite one ! And I can't see Umaga vs Cena being better than my favorite one.
I hated the match between Hokuto and Kandori. I couldn't stand Hokuto doing her little tragic number of selling. It's IMO the most overrated match of all time. The june 95 match between Holy Demon Army and Kobashi/Misawa is currently my second greatest match of all time so I don't need to tell you which one I consider better.
Tamura vs Han is much much better than Lesnar vs Cena because it's an amazing and compelling shoot style match, the sense of struggle is off the chart. I hate the match between Cena and Lesnar but I haven't seen it for a while.

Sixth comparison - hansen vs kobashi july 93 vs flair vs steamboat clash 89. This isnt even close. I want to analyze the two matches. And i think at the end of the day you have to pick between 2 top matches. But these oddball comparison between two uncomon matches doesnt work. Anyway hansen vs kobashi is so overrated. It isnt even the best match at the show let alone the best match of the 90s . Its a good brawl. Its stiff out of control and puts kobashi over. Its more uncooperative than most matches. And the sense of chaos and unprediticality leads to a great level of violence. Kobashi getting closer and closer in the end. Before getting put in to coma was great . The crowd was awesome. It has all the big hansen spots.kobashi does great job matching violence and the execution itself of the work is great. More realistic than most matches due to not much rope running. And the execution of strikes was stiff and great. Overall a really great brawl that put over kobashi. Contained violence and the overall work perails segments were compelling. The hansen punts were good. Kobashis selling was good as well as the good subtle selling by hansen. Its 85 percent and a solid contender but not even the best match on the show as misawa kawada was superior. Anyway theres not much to analyze imo in hansen kobashi. Anyway flair steamboat clash is way better and my 2nd fav 80s us match. For starters it doesnt have the awful memphis and 80s us in general troupes as much in effect as most 80s us matches atleast. The chops were good strikes that were executed and sold well with being stiff and more realistic than most 80s us. The chops selling and the flair begging and the hammy selling was really bad. But flairs overall selling was great with him solding the threat of the chickenwing well. Steamboat was good as the good guy that know all of rics tricks and countered. Steamboat stayed ahead in the most match. The head work was great. Both guys selling was good. There was i feel escalation in the final half. They did a great job selling overall exhusation. And changing startegies when most startegies failed. And not doing fillar work and having the whole match come as unpreditcable was great. The early stuff set the tone greatly.the crowd was hot and behind steamboat . The headlock was fun. The rollups were great. Flair was a great in coward role. The ovepall body of work in the 60 min cant be praised enough. Overall 90 percent and top 75 contender. So flair steamboat is better due to the resons stated above.anyway i am biased towards long 60 min matches .and its my 6th fav one.

Seventh comparison- lawler vs dundee 12/30/85 vs satanico vs el dandy 12/14/90 - This is a pretty hard one. That lawler dunnde match is their best in the series. Its clipped but almost perfect. Dundee gives his carrer performance. The punches and the laser focus he has on jerrys injured eye is great. The punches he does are realistic and great. The stomping, punches the gogues even the rakes and cut lawlers spots with the tremondous focus was great The chops to leg etc was great. Lawlers big bump was great his overall selling was great mixed with selling of exhusation good eye sell. The selling for each move in the match was epic with every blow being treated as huge and it made it a boxing type vibe. Lawler surviving the fall and coming back in a way where he put over how fucked he was nd somehow coming back but looking like he was on pure instict was great. Match was short from what was shown and like a boxing spirnt. But the work was so focused that it felt like a huge fight. The ending exchange is an epic fight it has some of the best punches ever thrown in wrestling. Dundee after abusing lawlers eye and targating it to be a step ahead then realizing the fight and nuking lawler with just fucking left rights was transcending. They just murder each other. Lawler makes a great comeback and just drillas dundee with all time punches some of the most legendary he throws. The lawler big punch were he kills and dundee takes a big bump was perfect. Match felt like an epic boxing match with some of the best punches exchange ever. Really loud great heat. And dundee winning was fine narrative. The match had some awful 80s us troupes that i hate and 80s us matches arent perfect. The top rope punch and the cartoony heel dundee leaving was bullshit and it was chessy and unrealistic. But the overall realism of the match was there. And the execution was fucking perfect be it a bump or punch. Nice narrative that the match executed well great selling. And they just explode nuke each other. 93 percent and a top 50 contender and a contender for top 80s us match. All time great crowd as well which always add to the match and experience. It was a bit chessy but realistic enough. Anyway satanico dandy is better lets talk why. First you have satanico rushing dandy and laying a brutal beatdown on dandy and dandy doing chicanaesque and level sell. The match had great strikes. Great payback spots. Awesome visuals with payback brutal bite spots. The epic brwaling and the uncooaprtive type dives were they just run full bore at each other in a fast speed. They bloody eabh other. The structure is unique and the brwaling is uncooprate. The selling especially long term selling by both and the fujiwaraish touches by satanico were epic. Memersarizng finish. Great character work and ouerall body language and touches by satanico. The strikes and selling was realistic. Great execution exhuastion sell strikes execution. It had a visceral brutality. The overall brawling and bumps were brutal. The submission work was great. Awesome finish in context.the blood visual are brwaling was top notch. 94 percent and an all timer brwal. More uncooperative realistic and had a better more clear narrative that were executed well than the memphis match. Top 40 contender. And a bht better than memphis match for reasons stated above.i prefer lucha brawl and lucha in general to memphis so theres that but i am not biased. Both are all time great brawls. the character work in lucha match is legendary better and more realistic. So the lucha match/brawl is a bit superior.

Eighth comparison hansen vs ATG njpw 81 vs santo vs casas aspestus cmll 9/19/97 this is easy for me but both matches has the following poimts. - hansen vs andre i. The hate with they went at each other and the heat both are unmatched. ii.great crowd heat great intensity. 3. Realistic strikes constant struggle. 4.andres hands are so big that it seemed he was a demon murdering hansen. 5. Great urgency and use of countdown leading to them exploding with a lot heat. 6. Really clean execution a lot of violence and it just feels like a huge speatacle great slams as well. Overakl a classic 94 percent and a top 50 contender. Santo vs casas 97 is a true my type match its perfect from start to finish the early matwork is intense and great. The violence is great in the way that it escalates too. The kicks to santos brain by casas are so realistic its worked like a fight between two top strikers. The match has all perfect brutal strikes with great execution. A solid narrative with casas adding heelish touches brutal dives. A constant fight with struggle and awesomesly strategic. Usual great heat and a realistic feel of a mask match. The punches and ground and pound and palms are my fav part with perfect execution and violence. Santo and casas doing realism with poses great stares and the struggle for postions kicks and diving kness into skull. The big santo dive landing full body and casas was epic. The hansen andre slams were great. But santo casas is just better 97 percent and top ten contender.

9th comparison volk han vs tamura janurary 97 vs brock vs cena ER 12. Han tamura in a cakewalk although brock cena is phenomenal. This comparison tells me why comparing dismilar matches dont work in the way i want. We just count the strenghth and weaknesses of a match and just pick what we like better. Its not the best way but important. Anyway brock cena had the famous opening with brock just going throw john and elbows in brain. Cena does a realisitc and visceral sell. He bleeds a lot and the doctor coming etc makes for a realistic enivorment. Cenas never gave up character works as the pain increase but he tries to stay back look for opening all the while getting knees suplexes etc. Brock and the ref stuff wasnt good but it added to brocks loss being a miscualation. Brock beats on cena and destroy him. But cena always gets openings and does damage on brock. Brock does a great top rope knee to cena but he uses weapon to stay a chance. And ultimately shocks brock with a big blow and win. The structure and narrative meshed well. Actual work done was good too due to awesome strikes a focus on realistic narrative being executed well. Execution was good and realistic as well so it was all well. 85 percent and a top 100 candidate. With han vs tamura its the 2nd best match between them. And han is the better performer leading tamura through the match . A lot of struggle for condition and position as usual with them if you pay deep attention. Realistic snug looking matwork. Nothing spotfest about han or it. All time grappling with realistic counters holds struggle. A lot grappling holds that even i dont know. Great mental chess pshology of pride in tamura. And kiyo trying to stand up to volk. Both guys trying to finish each other with real urgency. The realism is legendary. The strikes ko type unholy realistic and brutal. Perfect execution. The counter wrestling was high level as well 95 percent and top 20 contender. One of my fav rings and han matches ever 5 stars .so tamura han is just another level due to the grappling urgency narrative in character dynimc and realism in it so its just better easily.

Tenth comparison - shawn vs mankind mind games 96 vs shawn vs undertaker hiac 97. A bit hard one both are two of the top shawn matches ever. As well as top foley and taker matches ever imo. Shawn didnt bring the tendincies in those. And foley and taker both do a great performance. Shawn vs taker hiac is a normal structure nailed in a fine enivorment. Taker delivers a gruesome beating on shawn with violence. Shawn gets small comebacks and does decent damage but his startegies dont work. Taker than annahilates him while he took bim bumps. Bleeds a lot and is getting masscared in the end with everything failing him. Until the debut happens and that works with the narrative. A simple structure with good execution urgency. A lot brutality anad escalation overall a truely great match imo 86 percent and easy top hundred. The violence didnt made it feel like a plunder brawl which is always a things thats nice and is welcomed. The match also didnt felt phony to credit. Shawn vs mankind mindgames is a match with the start of brawling that felt brutal and was great. Both throws body at each other recklessely. Match had a lot of things in it that was done well. First off a narrative that was solid and worked with characters with shawn trying to match foley but failing and switching startegies and foley being a dangerous monster. A lot of urgency and escalation of violence . Brutaliaty and some huge bumps. A lot of reckless brawling and dives. Limbwork that wasnt the main point but sold well. Nice transitions and great perils by both overall 87 percent and top 75 contender. Not by a huge margin but shawn foley has the nod due to the shooty brwaling in early. And having a more realistic match and enivorment overall better execution too with some nice strikes by foley.
