I wrote about this a little bit in the 1992 Royal Rumble Thread about that match specifically. There are several matches I'm struggling with rating and figuring out where to place. The 92 Rumble is probably the match I'm struggling with the most. It hasn't made any of my rough drafts, but the more I think about it the more I think it shouldn't just be rated but rated really fucking high. It's something I've thought a lot about thus far.
Thinking about other matches like this, it seems like WWE matches keep popping up. Stuff like Austin vs Dude Love, Canadian Stampede, and Savage vs Warrior are all matches that I could see myself rating super high or also not making it at all. They've all missed or barely made various rough drafts I've made. But there are also times, like right now, where if I made a list I'd put Savage vs Warrior in my top 30 at worst.
Hashimoto & Iizuka vs Ogawa & Murakami was another match like that but at this point in the process I'm pretty firm on that being a top 50 match.
Does anybody else have stuff that they're struggling figuring out how to rate for one reason or another?

I rewatched the WM X ladder match yesterday and didn’t really rate it all, somehow - not sure if it was a case of expectations being too high (it was sensational watching it as a kid at the time) or something else. I need to rewatch in a while, but at the moment I’m torn. Yesterday’s viewing would place it low down; my childhood love for it and the influence it had on the future makes me definitely think it should be higher up.

I felt that way about the Mania ladder match when I rewatched it a while back. I thought it was great when I first watched it of course but even years later I thought it was solid. It dropped a good bit for me down the road. It is still a good match, but doesn't have a prayer to make my list personally.
I have a ton of trouble figuring out what to do with Gilbert Cesca vs Billy Catanzarro. It might be the greatest match ever... it might be something fairly run of the mill for the time period. I have watched some of the other French catch stuff we have on tape (though I haven't surfed through that for a bit) and this feels like a great match among them, but its such a small sample size and this feels like its comes out of left field in terms of the style and the time. Right now I look at it in a vacuum and it is a lock on the list, but I am never feel particularly comfortable with where I have it vs matches (styles, genres, time periods) that I have a better grasp on.
