Kiyoshi Tamura vs Dokonjonosuke Mishima (U-Style - 4/6/2003)
Somehow I forgot to nominate this when I nominated all of the Tamura matches. This is a short match, I'm pretty sure it is under 10 min, but is fucking spectacular. Mishima is one of the lost great workers of all time just based on a few matches. He's like if Mocho Cota, Volk Han and Kazushi Sakuraba somehow had a child together. I'm talking cartwheel side kicks and shit.
Here's my review from the Tamura C&A:
This looks slightly JIP on youtube. Crowd is into this early. Great throw by Mishima. Mishima wins my heart right away by taking some really creative chances for the sake of positioning. This is cool because its Tamura getting to work with someone smaller than him which isn’t something we got to see a lot of throughout his career. Mishima is really quick so there are some really breathtaking “blink and you’ll miss it” moments in this. Mishima also pulls out some of the most bizarre submission attempts this side of Mikhail Ilioukhine including this totally fucking gnarly toe lock that looks so brutal and leads to a rope break. Oh my god, those handstand kick things Mishima does. Holy shit. Dokonjonosuke, where the fuck have you been all my life? Everyone who likes shoot style just a little bit needs to see this shit. Tamura is the perfect sort of opponent for a goofy fuck like Mishima. Tamura has superior technique but also is one of the great athletes and naturals in wrestling history so he’s able to deal with all of Mishima’s weirdo stuff. EPIC match. Million billion stars. This was just an absolute delight. I with they had 10 more matches together.

Thank you for posting this, I didn't know who Mishima was but he's awesome in this match. He has a great defensive game against Tamura and some sick kicks that puts his opponent in danger more than once. Also every match that ends with a jujigatame deserves an extra star and more so if it looks like and arm is gonna break at any moment. I'm in a point where I would fill my list with Casas/Santo, Walter/Allin and all the Tamura matches available online. Is it problematic if this match is in my top 50? Am I breaking the "code" putting a lot of 10 minute matches in my list? Who cares, right?

I found it in the Ditch, in the section where all the matches appear on chronological order.
Where did you find the Tamura vs Barnett?

Tamura looked like a god here. This is Mishima's first pro match and he might have just put in the best debut performance ever. From how he faked out Tamura with a strike as a way to get on a submission to how he tried to rise right back up to his feet after being knocked on his arse by a Tamura kick, he just gets pro-wrestling. The mat-work here is brilliant and every submission attempt had urgency behind it. Check this out if you fancy dipping your toes into some shoot-style. ★★★★½

Kiyoshi Tamura vs Dokonjonosuke Mishima (U-Style - 4/6/2003)
I love this match, Kiyoshi Tamura is the greatest shoot wrestler in history in my opinion he brings a level of intensity and commitment to every single bout he’s apart of and that’s the best quality a wrestler can have every match with Tamura matters. He’s an amazing performer, I’m fascinated by how he sells every single move like he’s being killed, that’s what I mean when I say commitment to your craft, he’s special, one of a kind in his specialty where unconvincing selling can very easily kill a match for me. He’s everything I want in a wrestler, he’s undoubtedly a top 10 wrestler of all time and this match is a great example of why that’s the case, a unassuming match from a little shoot style promotion made memorable by Tamura’s performance it’s beautiful. He also makes whoever he’s facing look way better than they actually are, Dokonjonosuke Mishima isn’t a bad wrestler but he isn’t nearly as good as his opponent but still feels like a threat thanks to his opponent’s selling, professional wrestling is truly a special medium that can make every idea off the top of your head work. This one is short with a ten minute runtime (not that short by shoot style standards) which is more than enough to get the story across in a convincing manner that wouldn’t have worked if this match was any longer because Dokonjonosuke Mishima shouldn’t last more than ten minutes against one of the greatest wrestler ever. This match is great but it isn’t a great introduction to Kiyoshi Tamura, if you are already familiar with his style and legacy grab some popcorn you’ll be amazed by the way the match was structured and how Kiyoshi made his opponent look legit for a few moments.
