I loved this match for years just a brutal war the other team kill kitahara who is not holding back either.tenryu came in and just remined people who he was with pure violence.they bleed and it is a brawl with hatred and intensty of a million exploding suns.Just my one of my favs WAR matches ever. Which is underrated it has true violence and perfect execution urgency and struggle hatred etc. Should do well on a list.hawke gave this 5 asterkies and said it was all time great. While i dont think that its a classic for sure. Just a horror murder happening in front of a rabid crowd the stops chops punches violence is enough. Matches like this should at least get a look and must be talked cos it just pure violence with great tag structure actually fuckin awesome match must watch for tenryu fans.a solid contender 43/4 STARS.

For a match to be nominated, it either needs to seconded and thirded or be three paragraphs long. Moving to Nomination Process.

Second. One of the hottest crowds in wrestling history combined with the well executed formula of two pricks vs. legend/novice.

I wish I had seen this thread earlier because I regret leaving this match off my ballot. As far as I'm concerned, this is the crown jewel of the NJPW/WAR feud. Both members of Team WAR bleed. Chairs and tables are used as weapons. Guys in martial arts uniforms brawl with the wrestlers and each other. The fans pelt the ring with garbage. Tenryu picks a fight with Masa Saito on commentary. At no point is there even a hint of sportsmanship or fair play. To top it all off, Tenryu beats Koshinaka with a powerbomb and keeps powerbombing him after the match until Saito runs in to break it up. This is everything an interpromotional match should be. Hell, this is everything pro wrestling should be. You need to go out of your way to watch this if you haven't already seen it.

One of the most heated small arena matches in the history of wrestling. Seriously, the whole match is a riot with huge crowd chants. Good start with a bunch of guys in martial arts suits wildly brawling with the hometown boys. The Koshinaka and Kimura heel work is good, almost 80s US style with how they pull the hair viciously, stomp Kitahara, and break his nose. The match further escalates in heat and violence from there. What drives it to the next level is Tenryu’s performance. The way he casually walks and stomps a guy on the head is quite great. I thought Tenryu getting bloodied was memorable. Also, the way he sold the rudo beatdown by holding his ear in pain and extricating his shoulder was great selling. His badass comeback was probably my favorite moment of the match. A bloodied Tenryu taking Koshinaka’s head off with a brutal lariat, stomping the guys, and delivering pure violent slaps to the rudos with insane fire while loud Tenryu chants occur. Interpromotional wrestling doesn’t get much better than that. Tenryu absorbing the violent chops was another badass moment. I liked the finish as Tenryu just powerbombed Shiro over and over to put over the hatred. I guess a few criticisms would be that the match needed more violence to get into the upper echelon of WAR bouts. Also, a few transitions were kinda weak. But, for Japanese interpromotional wrestling meets 80s US style southern tag, it doesn’t get much better.

How have I slept on the WAR/NJ feud all these years? This was tremendous, on first watch a top 20 contender. The split crowd is what makes it for me. Derby day vibes with the fans rallying behind their team no matter what gnarly antics they threw out. The crowd energy, the hate from the seconds, the intesity of the match, all these elements bleeding into each other (the lack of barriers really helps here), the whole thing was so memorable.

Top 20 contender. Tenryu's hot-tag might be my favourite ever.

Thanks a lot!
Fucking unbelievable experience. Tenryu with an all time great hot tag, the spot where he lands a lariat so hard and so fast that he gets out of the fucking ring is automatically one of my favourites ever. All time great crowd as well, the Derby days comparison is the perfect way to describe it, yeah. Tenryu is so effortlessly badass here, my god.
