Hey Folks,
So I have been more or less MIA since Sept. because of uninteresting work stuff. I have been keeping up with watching, just very little time to write about it. I was curious what people thought about when to end the project. I believe the original idea was to have ballots due this wrestlemania weekend. Personally, I could use a year and think the project could use another year to see if it gain gain a little more traction and get some more voices in. I was one of the original members starting the project, but many of you have been far more active in keeping it alive lately, so I leave it to a discussion and concede the decision to the group.
With any luck I can get back to writing and being a bit more active here soon and keep some momentum as the next year shouldn't be quite as nuts as the last.
Thoughts on this?

I am around 80-85% done with the draft I'll turn in. I'm happy with the WrestleMania 35 deadline. Personally, and I mentioned this on PWO as well, I don't think extending the deadline will actually help participation. But I'll go with whatever the group decides as well.

I say keep the Wrestlemania deadline but turn it into an annual or bi-annual thing. Over the course of this project, we’ve developed a chill community built around appreciating the great matches of wrestling’s history, and it feels like it’s become a separate entity from PWO without the same baggage of that board. I’d like to see where things could go, and the best way to grow this place would be to promote it with an actual list. It’s the nature of the beast that no one will ever be 100% happy with their list as new great matches are constantly coming out and opinions are changing on rewatch. The best way to deal with that is a rolling model.

I am actually fairly good with my list on the whole. It will be ever evolving, and doing a new list ever 2 years or so would be a way to keep things fresh not just for each participant, but for the board as a whole.

The best way to deal with that is a rolling model. I LOVE THIS IDEA! There are still giant swaths of stuff I have not gotten to yet that I wanted to get to before the Mania deadline (namely re-watching 90s All Japan). I dont want to force it. I find that I am my best when I am in the mood for a certain style of pro wrestling. Like for instance, I recently pounded a bunch of RINGS & BattlArts and I just couldnt finish it (I still need to watch Tamura vs Kohsaka & some BatBat tags). Next thing you know I am watching TNA & ROH. I cant explain it but it just feels right. If it does not feel right, I find myself not enjoying the match, which defeats the whole point of having a hobby. So doing something where we update the list every six months or every year would be very helpful to me. I think the list I produce at the Mania deadline may be without 90s All Japan representation for instance (I can not predict my moods at all. It is just whatever strikes my fancy so if I want to watch 90s AJPW in March it could make it) and then in six months I would be able to produce a list with it.

I would be very much on board for sort of an annual recount every year around Mania season and a running list, essentially converting this from a "project" into a forum focused on discussing individual matches and comparisons thereof with lots of room for conversations about wrestlers more broadly and so on.

I'm down with an annual list or recount as well. Make Mania the deadline each year and we can all see where we're at.

Initially I was going to say I’d be good with an extension, but honestly, you could give me a decade and I’d never be totally happy with my list. There’s always new stuff, then by the time you get to all that you end up questioning if you’re still good with where you had the stuff you watched at the very start of the project, so you end up rewatching and second guessing and there’s only so much time to dedicate to this sort of glorious nerdery. So I’d be cool with a situation where we do it every other year or whatever. I actually redid my PWO GWE ballot a few weeks ago and it wound up being pretty different in parts to what it was like in 2016, so I think there could be some decent variation on the final list each year. People discover new matches, tastes change, new folks get involved in the project, etc.

The WM deadline is ok for me, I'm impatient to discover the results. What bothers me is the fact that some matches that are in the nominees subforums aren't in the index of nominees. And I think there are even some matches in the index of nominees that are still in the nomination process subforum and so not yet in a nominee subforum. It's not really serious I think.

I've been going through them and trying to make sure everything is updated. I'll keep checking.

I'm on board for the WM deadline this year and then having an annual update/recount. Sounds like a great idea!

Fine with the WM deadline and love the idea of having an annual update.

I'm all for keeping the Mania deadline and doing it annually. I'm in the same boat as everyone else. I've been pretty much locked in for a bit but could easily have like 50 different matches a year from now
