Are "New England Style" IPAs legit more popular up there? I see them often, but I don't know... maybe like 1 NEIPA to ever 5 IPAs at shops and bars here. That is a total guess. I might be misrepresenting it.

They are definitely really prevalent up here, especially from the big, hyped-up NE breweries. Rarely will you see them come out w/ anything west coast style which would be a welcome change of pace.

Tomorrow morning I leave for vacation to Maine. My wife and so both love beers and we will be hitting up some great breweries: Rising Tide, Maine, Foundation, Austin Street. My intention is to take a break from wrestling, but looking forward to seeing what’s in the board when I get back.

Awesome. Let us know how the beers are and have fun!
If anyone ever has a chance to grab some Dark Side of the Pig from Pig Pounder Brewery, do it. It is the best bang for the buck I have had in a while.
I actually haven't been drinking that much lately, or at least a lot of new/interesting stuff. We have been busy working on our home bar for the past few weeks, remodeling the basement. We have to wait on some materials, but we should have everything except the actual bar by the end of July. We are going to get one custom made so our kegerator and mini fridge can fit in it.
A local brewery did open a new location near us (walking distance). It is my least favorite one in town, but they usually have one or two beers I like on tap. So that is good news.

We got to Bissell Brothers and everything we had was great: The Substance and Zoology. I missed Belleflower but we were right in that area, I will have to get em next time.
I came back with a bunch of beers to work my way through and all in all had a great trip. I am going to ease back into watching wrestling but am looking forward to reading up and adding some comments soon.

Anyone tried anything cool lately?
The 2021 bourbon co. was really good. I got 3 of the variants. The cherrywood one was amazing.
I also got a baltic porter the other day that I really enjoyed. It was from Duck Rabbit Brewery. I don't think they have super wide distro, but if you see it I'd recommend. Their other stuff is eh... usually a bit too sweet for the style they are trying to do. I really like baltic porters, but just don't see them often. I'm hoping one day they become fashionable like hazy ipas or something.

My sober January plans went awry but it was worth it. The best beer I had was The Next Best Thing, a nicely balanced IPA from Icarus Brewing in Lakewood NJ. not too hoppy, not too fruity. My wife goes for the stouts more than I do but we both loved Theough the Empty Space, an oatmeal stout whose sweetness was muted.
I can’t quit craft beer and I guess that is ok.

Duck Rabbit distributes in my area. I'm a big fan of their milk stout. Just the right mix of roastiness and sweetness.
Since I last posted in this thread, I've determined that I could drink Alpine Nelson, Yazoo Hopry Hazy IPA, and Three Floyds Gumballhead every and not get tired of them. The only problem with Nelson is that the Whole Foods near me doesn't update its inventory often enough, so they'll frequently only have six-packs that are several months old. On the stout front, I thought KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa was outstanding. For my money, the second-best KBS variant behind Maple Mackinac Fudge.

I did an abbreviated dry January (late start). I was disappointing I didn't lose any weight, but then I realized I ate a ton of bread because I knew I wouldn't be drinking haha.
I love that Maple Mackinac Fudge KBS. I'll have to be on the lookout for Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa.
I had a Barrel Aged Chocolate Mint Imperial Stout yesterday from Epic. It is part of their Big Bad Baptist series, which I always recommend. This one was fine. I'm not buying another one or anything, but it was worth trying. Previous variants were better than the 2021 series, which skewed quite sweet. The one exception is the Rye Barrel aged, which was excellent.
I'll also keep an eye out for the others you guys mentioned.

Also... yall ever fuck with meed? I had some a few months back that I liked ok, but wasn't crazy about. A local brewery here is releasing a sparkling meed this weekend for their anniversary. It is all very "local" (made with honey from bees within a certain radius or something). I'll probably grab one to try it because they are releasing some special stouts as well. It just occurred to me to ask this lot about meed while I am procrastinating on some work.

Check in on this thread. Anything good?
It is stout and winter ale season... so my favorite beer season.
Goose Island's Bourbon Counties just dropped for the year. I think the basic 2022 version is probably the best I've had in a long time. As for the variants, I've only tried to Fig Newton variant, which was quite good.
Jackie O's Deck The Hills Holiday Ale is a huge hit. It isn't really spicy or sweet like a lot of holiday/winter ales are. It is more a rich brown ale than anything. I've been really high on that brewery in general as we have been getting more of their big stouts in my neck of the woods lately.

I usually end up getting the Bourbon County around this time of year and I’ve never been blown away by anything. But, I’m not a versatile beer drinker. I don’t stray from pale ales unless somebody brings me a can (or begrudgingly a bottle) of something they’re hyped on.

I had moved to Portland in 2007 (for about a year) and one of the big selling points was variety of craft beer. There simply wasn’t the variety in my area, or I didn’t know where to look for it. I knew all the styles and fancied myself an expert. Only a few years later it seemed like everywhere is lousy with breweries. As a result, I kinda just settled into knowing that I like Pale ale’s. Not all of them, but whatever brewery I’d go to is zone in the regular ass ipa or pale ale.
As a result of a drinking problem, I’ve settled into almost specifically drinking Revolution Fist City. It’s my favorite beer and because I drink so sparingly nowadays. It’s become a comfort thing for me, the adventure and discovery no longer thrill me.
My neighbor gave us an Affy Tapple beer that’s been sitting on our porch for a couple months. That’s the most interesting thing we have.
