That is more or less my plan. I need to start getting things into bit sized pieces. I more or less have my locks and even a lot of of the "probables".
I just hate putting first drafts down. It is the hardest part of anything for me haha. Editing is easier.

I am also a procrastinator and bad drafter. I am finally making progress on a matches list and that's my focus in the near term.
For Greatest Wrestler Ever, I like Elliott's idea of getting the list down and working from there. I am also going to make use of those joshi- and lucha-specific top 25s to fill out some of my gaps. I feel like I have more sorting and watching to do toward the top of my list than most, but the bottom line is this is supposed to be fun.

I was going to do sub lists and then I just decided to go through my database of rated matches and plug names in as I saw them (if I thought there was even a prayer) and came out with roughly 150 names. I'm sure I missed plenty and folks who I didn't think had a prayer will be real contenders, but just having names on a page in an order is helpful.
I'll break them off into sub lists or color code it for who I need to dive more into and what not next probably.
My goal is to sort of double dip with the two projects over the coming years. I've said before I am always going to be a "peak" guy, so it shouldn't be a stretch. Dabbling in stuff that is relevant but not "great match stuff" is something I like to do anyway.

I broke it down down into categories (e.g joshi, lucha, shoot) then broke it down into the locks, probables, and people i'd consider but dont know if they make the final draft

Greatest WRestler is way easier than Greatest Match.

I think a GME is easier on the macro level and harder on the micro. It is really hard to parse out matches next to one another, but doesn't feel daunting because each nominee is one match.
A GWE match is the opposite. I'm sure I'll have issues picking between two wrestlers on the micro level, but I there will be lots of places where I feel ok saying X wrestler is better than Y wrestler, even when they are separated by just one place. However, even breaking it down into digestible pieces... this feels massive. Each candidate is at least a hand full of matches (depending on your personal threshold, but at least 3 for this project if I am remembering right).
So... who do you think you will be the high vote on, everyone?
It is obvious the most likely suspect for me is Kandori. I'd be surprised if anyone was higher on M. Suzuki than me as well. Based on the earliest of thoughts, some other candidates for me are Kingston, Hero, Owens, Chicana, Satomura, Super Dragon, and R. Strong

I still think Angle and Benoit are both top 10 contenders, and the same goes with Tanahashi and Styles (but hopefully those won't be as unpopular), so there's that.

I assume Tana and Styles get at least a top 3 vote, if not a #1

I expect I'll be the high vote on a host of women. Maybe Invader. Probably Abdullah. Maybe Otsuka. Probably Heenan. Probably Piper. Maybe the Giants Baba and Andre

I definitely agree with you Elliott that GWE is easier than GME and also probably not as volatile from year to year. I'd be able to create a top 20-25 that Im pleased with far quicker. I think Ill there's a good shot that Ill be the high man on some shoot guys/quasi shoot guys like Carl Greco and Tsuyoshi Kohsaka

I am way high on every big Wahoo McDaniel match, I think he’s my most likely high vote as of today.
How high is the high vote for Devil Masami? She is amazing.
I haven’t been let down by Jim Breaks yet, he is always doing something to keep me interested.
I consider myself a Piper supporter as well.

Masami has a shot to be in my top 10

Masami could also creep into my top 10. She is top 15 for me now.
I may be the high vote on Chingusa Nagayo.
I think I will be one of the higher votes on many women, but outside of Kandori I don't suspect I will be THE high vote. I know Elliott will have lots of them high and Grimmas is - I think - only voting for women.

I never know where to rank the women amongst the men. I always feel like a cut them short. I might rank the men first and put the women in last where I see fit instead of ranking them together. That might be better. And ranking the women by themselves is a nightmare. There is no real clear #1 for me. Kandori, Nagayo, Kong, Hokuto all have great claims to that top womens spot. And that's there is Toyota, Nakano and Dynamite Kansai, etc to think about.
