214. Kensuke Sasaki vs. Kenta Kobashi (NOAH - 7/18/2005) Total Points: 100 High Vote (1): MakaiClub Our only lone vote #1 this year (I am very excited that Flair vs Morton made the Top 150 this year ), even though I am personally lukewarm on this match (although I really need to rewatch it because ***3/4 is way too low, methinks), I think this is an excellent choice. It is the perfect Dome, spectacle match, it is so larger than life. In a lot of ways it encompasses everything heavyweight puroresu is about. I think if youre into the style, this is a worthy number one and a cool picl.

Totally agree. It is comfortably outside my list, but well within the range of being a worthy #1.
That is the beauty of this project. You can clearly see how folks are watching new matches or re-watching matches with a fresh set of eyes on the recommendation of others and/or list placement.

Some more pedantic proofreading: This can't be right. I had this match in that exact spot on my ballot. That would be me. I didn't vote for this match and never even considered it.

It has been fixed. We apologize for these errors. The important information is all correct, it's just that we sometimes select from the adjacent (i.e. wrong) column when inputting the high voter.

A total shock seeing Kobashi/Akiyama from 1998 outside the top 100 and even top 150. Iirc that match finished pretty well last year. I hope this year's list is more diverse though, so I'm not that bothered about this.

148. Shinobu Kandori vs Yumiko Hotta (LLPW – 3/21/1998)Total Points: 151 High Vote (10): Jetlag
Absolutely fantastic match that I am glad finished this high. Doesn't surprise me that Jetlag has this banger in his top 10. Great showing for a great match.
147. Manami Toyota vs Akira Hokuto (AJW - 9/2/1995)Total Points: 152 High Vote (35): andylfc
Another one that I am happy to see this high. I found this match to be a bonafide classic the first time I saw it. Really really good and really fun match start to fnish. Also... as we have said many times here. This is in the running for best start to a match ever.
142. Atsushi Onita vs Terry Funk (No Rope Barbed Wire Exploding Ring Death Match - FMW - 5/5/1993)Total Points: 147 High Vote (11): uncledave
I wouldn't say I did a "deep dive" on deathmatch wrestling, but I hit the highlights when it comes to the classics. I loved this match and totally get why people love it. It falls well short of my pick for best match in the style and well short of my list though. It is still a wonderful bit of wrestling theater.
141. Eddie Guerrero vs Brock Lesnar (WWE - 2/15/2004)Total Point: 160 High Vote (33): NintendoLogic
I love this match. If Goldberg wasn't involved this match could legit be a top 10-20 contender. Glad others can look past that.
140. Alexander Otsuka vs Mitsuhiro Matsunaga (BattlArts - 11/19/1999)Total Points: 160 High Vote (11): Elliott
I watched this one a few months before the ballot and was blown away. I thought everything Elliott said about it was spot on. This is a singular match in my mind and hits such emotional highs in a relatively short amount of time.
129. Bryan Danielson vs. Low Ki (JAPW - 6/7/2002)Total Points: 183 High Vote (23): Jetlag
A personal favorite. I'm plesently surprised this one finished in the top 130.
128. AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe (TNA - 12/11/2005)Total Points: 185 High Vote (50): NintendoLogic
My favorite TNA match by some distance. I should revisit this one before the next ballot.
119. Naoki Sano vs. Wayne Shamrock (PWFG - 5/19/1991)Total Points: 198 High Vote (17): KB8
This is a really good finish, but I am surprised this one isn't even higher and more just generally loved.
118. The Four Horsemen & JJ Dillon vs The Super Powers & Paul Ellering (Wargames - JCP - 7/4/1987)Total Points: 199 High Vote (1): Elliott
The only comment I have about this one is that it got 2 votes. It got a #1 and a #2 vote. That is impressive for something that just missed the top 100.
117. Bryan Danielson vs Low Ki (ROH - 3/30/2002)Total Points: 201 High Vote (20): Cap
Awesome finish for this, but I was really hoping it would sneak into the top 100. Best ROH match for my money, best indie match for my money.
112. Sangre Chicana vs Perro Aguayo (Hair vs Hair – EMLL – 2/28/1986)Total Points: 210 High Vote (14): Cap
Last year this finished 100 after shooting into my top 10 at the final hour. It dropped just a hair this year but it wouldn't have made a difference. Still, an absolute classic.
107. Johnny Gargano vs Andrade Almas (NXT - 1/27/2018)Total Points: 220 High Vote (20): Kadavari
This one fell off my ballot at the last minute this year. I watched it again recently and it might wind up back on next year. It is something really pretty special and feels organically good. It also comes at the very beginning of a period where NXT is really leaning on contrived "epics" and I can't help but feel like this match - as great as it was - contributed to that, especially all the Gargano matches folks love.
106. Kenta Kobashi vs Samoa Joe (ROH - 10/1/2005)Total Points: 223 High Vote (20): Cactus
YES! Love that 20 vote from Cactus. This is absolutely wonderful stuff. Every time I think of this match I am reminded of Joe's story about how Kobashi was planning to play the foreign menace heel and Joe had to explain to him - through a translator of course - that the fans adore him and just wanted him to be himself and beat the hell out of Joe.

A bunch of mine dropped there and broke my heart. One quick note: the Tenryu/Orihara v Kabuki/Kitahara (WAR, 7/14/92) tag was my #20, which I guess would make me another one of the high voters on it.
Jetlag's 1-2 punch is awesome. I never expected anybody to have Damiancito/Cicloncito higher than me so that was cool. Last year it would've been my #1 but dropped a bit to #12 this year.

Thanks for pointing it out. You and bossrock were right next to each other on the spreadsheet so it was just me lining it up wrong.
Yeah, I assume there are quite a few heart-breakers here, no just because its the final stretch before the top 100, but there are some real contenders and personal favorites in this lot.
