I was thinking about this for some minutes and figure out it could be a fun topic. I was thinking about my future GME list, and the matches I would like to revisit or discover, and I thought I could just limit myself to eithet very famous matches, or matches between two or more people from my (ongoing) GWE list. And I thought, is there any match worthy of a top 100 without absolute any top 100 material wrestlers? Or, said differently, what's the best match ever featuring the worst wrestlers possible?
I absolute love the Saint/Grey 1980 classic and is a GME lock for me, but I'm sure that right now neither guy would make my GWE list... But they're clear contenders anyway. Maybe Hogan/McMahon? That match is legit great, even better than Hogan/Rock for me. And obviously neither one is even close to my top 100 wrestlers.
What do you guys think? It could be a fun exercise.

LCO vs. Hamada and AKINO. All have arguments but wouldn't make my personal 100. all-timer of a hate-filled bloodbath

Just looking through my current 100 GME list and not having anywhere near a completed 100 GWE list, these matches jump out as potentially having wrestlers that wont make the latter list.
Pat Patterson vs Sgt. Slaughter (Alley Fight – WWF – 5/4/1981) Lola Gonzolez VS. Pantera Surena (Hair vs Hair – EMLL – 9/12/1988) John Cena vs Umaga (Last Man Standing – WWE Title – WWE – 1/28/2007) Alexander Otsuka vs Mitsuhiro Matsunaga (BattleArts – 11/9/1999) Steve Grey vs Johnny Saint (JP – 1/28/1980 [air: 2/2/1980]) Sgt. Slaughter vs Iron Sheik (Bootcamp Match – WWF – 6/16/1984) Tully Blanchard vs Magnum TA (Cage Match – US Title – JCP – 11/28/1985) Shinjiro Ohtani vs El Samurai (UWA World Jr LHW Title – NJPW – 1/21/1996)
Now before anyone starts yelling at me, This is a far too strict take on the question. Each of those matches has at least one wrestler with a VERY strong case for a top 100 list and would likely be a shoe in on many lists. They are just not 100% locks on my very rough list right now.
I suspect if I dig into "contenders" I'd find more answers in the spirit of the question or the way it is put at the end. Perhaps I'll do that later to procrastinate some.

Caribbean Sunshine Boys vs Kung Fu Fighters
edit: Oh for more Johnny Kincaid footage. Looks like a S-tier arsehole here.

As an aside - Tetsujin and Cap, what's (potentially) keeping Steve Grey out of your top 100?

Honestly, only the sheer number of great wrestlers and his style and era not being something quite as versed in or drawn to as some others. I very much enjoy the classic British style and I have picked through much of it, especially they hyped stuff. He is my favorite by some distance and he PROBABLY makes the cut, but when it comes to trimming it down to 100 names, I can't say with complete confidence he will be there.

Makes sense. I'm the same with Necro Butcher and The Rock - undeniably great at something that's not really my thing.

As an aside - Tetsujin and Cap, what's (potentially) keeping Steve Grey out of your top 100? Just me not watching enough. He's probably my favourite of the WOS guys alongside Breaks, but sadly it's a style I don't know as much as others, and it's been a long time since last rewatchs of the stuff I've actually seen as well. I'll try to fix that by 2026 though.

Breaks is my favourite WoS guy by some margin. If I had to make a top 100 today, he'd be top 10.

I just watched Masakatsu Funaki vs Tatsuo Nakano (7/24/89) this week, and that is a strong contender for my top 100 matches. They are not guys I was planning on exploring for my top 100 wrestlers.
Pirata Morgan vs El Fararon from 1990 is awesome, but I am not seeing them as top 100 possibilities. I wish we had more Fararon.
I had a few French Catch matches ranked last time but I am having a hard time thinking of how to evaluate them for a greatest wrestler ever list.

Man Funaki/Nakano seems like the truest answer ever. A match that was 5* to me not too long ago, and as such has a lot of potential for my top 15. But I know Funaki has a case for some people, though.

The Rousey/Angle v HHH/Stephanie tag from Wrestlemania.
Funaki/Nakano is a good shout as well, though I'm at least considering Nakano.
