I think the biggest surprise for me so far is that, in putting together my preliminary list, it looks like Killer Khan has a more than reasonable chance of having three matches in my top 100. I did not see that coming.

I can see him sneaking more than one match onto my list as well. He was a big match worker.

The biggest surprise so far is how many sub-10 minute matches I may end up having on my ballot; so far I've got four of them that are locks: Ric Flair vs. Blackjack Mulligan (Texas Death Match 10-23-1978) Ted Dibiase vs. Jim Duggan (The All Stips Match 3-22-1985) Ric Flair vs. Ted Dibiase (11-6-1985) Eddie Guerrero vs. Chris Benoit (10-16-1985)
I would also like to go on record here and say that the 1978 feuds with Mulligan and Steamboat are my two favorite Flair feuds of all time, and I will try to find as much footage of these two as I can going forward.

Is all the stips duggan/dibiase a sub 10? wow. Yep 9 minutes 39 seconds bell to bell. But there's a few minutes of Ted Dibiase stalling around which is so important to the match story.

Yeah, it’s a little bit of a stretch on my part to include the all stips match, but damn it’s so great!
It’s not much of a surprise, but some of the stuff I used to love just isn’t holding up; The Rockers blood bath with Rose/Somers is a good example.
I’m currently watching all the tv and pay per views from 2000 on the network, and hot dog it’s even better than when I was 13 years old! The build to several of the matches that I’ll be voting on are just so damn great and logical.

Not so much surprises in matches, but the project overall...
I'm surprised at the lack of Japanese Nominations between 2000 and 2012. I don't really know much about Dragon Gate, so I was hoping we'd get some of those folks who rated guys like Mochizuki, CIMA or whoever super high on GWE would join this project and nominate matches.
I'm surprised by the lack indy matches nominated not involving Daniel Bryan.
I'm surprised by the lack of nominees for Liger, Rey Jr and Eddy Guerrero who finished 6th, 7th and 12th overall on GWE.
I'm surprised Hogan vs Andre hasn't been nominated.

I'm not surprised there aren't that many from Rey because his big GWE case isn't his "Greatest Match Ever" candidates. It's his ridiculous amount of very good TV matches over a 20+ year period.

Liger is a guy I’ve never really got, his pimped matches come off flat and emotionless to me. Eddie on the other hand... I’ve been pacing myself so far with the nominations but be on the lookout for a few more over the next couple of weeks; I’ll be rewatching his stuff with Angle, JBL, and Smackdown Six work.

I would agree with that when it comes to Rey, although I will certainly be considering the Big Ass Extreme Bash match with Juventud and some of his earlier stuff with Psicosis.

And I think most of Liger's best stuff has already been nominated, but I plan on delving into the Otani series.

My biggest surprise thus far is how much I'm enjoying lucha classics, when a few months ago it was the style that I liked the least. Stuff like MS1/Chicana, Dandy/Azteca, Trauma I/Canis Lupus from 2016 or the Santito/anyone matches have increased their value for me since last time I watched them, and the new things I discover look pretty nice to me at least.

I'm surprised by how many matches from the past 5-8 years that are going to be on my list. Seriously there may be more matches from the 2010s than any other decade on my list.
Off the top of my head
Okada vs Shibata Suzuki vs Styles Cena vs Punk MITB Cena vs Punk from Raw (maybe) Wotan vs Negro Navarro Bryan vs HHH Bryan vs Cena Ultimo Geurerro vs Atlantis maybe At least two of the Okada vs Tanahashi series Almas vs Garagano Okada vs Omega probably both Nakamura vs Ibushi Ishii's upset of Tanahashi at the G1 (maybe) Canis Lupus vs Trauma 1 LA Park vs Wagner Jr LA Park vs Rush (maybe) Tanahashi vs Suzuki Billy Ken Kid vs Dick Togo Dick Togo vs Antonio Honda (maybe) Both Futen tags from 2010 Atlantis vs Sombra (maybe)
Thats 15 to 25 matches from this decade that may end up on my list. Thats a lot.
