Yeah, this current decade is fucking rockin' in terms of classic matches, and I think we don't really imagine the impact it's going to make on the final list because, you know, it's always difficult to know how transcendent modern things are going to be in History. But yeah, a lot of 10s matches are going to be on my list (at least right now) and I see we're not alone at all.

I forgot how loaded 2000-2006 NOAH is. I might actually have more matches from NOAH than I would from WWE or WCW.

Off the top of my head- You've got the enitre NJ vs NOAH junior feud Misawa vs Kobashi Kobashi vs Akiyama Kobashi vs Honda The Honda tags from 03 Shiozaki and Kobashi vs Kensuke Office Kobashi's return match in 2002 KENTA vs SUWA Team Takeover vs Taue and Shiozaki KENTAFuji vs Heavyweights tags from 06 KENTA vs Takayama I could see having 8 to 10 NOAH matches on my list.

I started watching 70s and 80s British wrestling (finally) for the project mostly. It took me a minute, but I am really surprised by how much I like some of the high end stuff. It is just so much fun to watch. There are a few matches that might wind up quite high for me. Within that I know that Jim Breaks gets a lot of the love, but Steve Grey is pretty easily my huckleberry here. I am imagining 2-3 of his matches are going to make my list and I think 4-6 matches from the style overall have a shot. I expected to enjoy it, but not quite as much as I do.

How few Genichiro Tenryu and Negro Casas matches are in contention for me at the moment. I had them at #1 and #4 respectively for GWE but right now only the 6/5/89 match is a lock for Tenryu and nothing really for Casas. It's making me rethink how I rate wrestlers and how much I value high end stuff.

Tons of volume but really maybe only one or two matches I would consider for a top 100 matches list.

The 10/88 Jumbo match is an old favorite as well. He's also got Choshu tags and singles with Hashimoto, Mutoh, and Kojima with a shot. I don't think this project diminished my view of Tenryu, but I also never bought into the big hype train surrounding him either.

Tenryu will have a fairly decent number of matches that make my final list I suspect. In addition to 6/5/89 and the 1/86 Choshu tag, I'll probably rank the Onita tag from 94, the two famous 1989 RWTL matches, and 2/94 vs Hashimoto. I'll think a lot about the 98 Hash match, some of the Choshu singles matches from the 80s, I want to rewatch all of the Hansen singles matches at some point, and there's a big 10 man from NJ vs WAR I want to look at again. Casas will have a lot of matches on my list. The 87, 91 and 97 Santo singles matches will all make it. The 3 way with Santo & Dandy (more of a Santo/Dandy match, but still), the 92 Dandy match, the crazy WWA/FMW Trio, and the 97 Cibernetico could all realistically end up in my top 50. The two 1996 trios matches centered around Santo's heel turn will both get consideration. Singles matches against La Fiera 93, Ultimo Dragon (Can't remember, I think also 93), and Blue Panther (2012) are all matches on my list of matches to consider/rewatch. Probably some other more recent stuff I can't remember off the top of my head. I think Regal, Bockwinkel, Buddy Rose, Barry Windham and Rey Jr are my "Greatest Wrestlers With the Fewest Matches I'm Seriously Considering for my Top 100." All of them could realistically have one or no matches make my list.

As of right now, I think only two of Kawada's singles matches are on my list (6/3/94 and Hansen 93). So much of his best stuff that ranks highly for me are in tags.

Anyone else think 80's joshi and the more recent shoot-inspired stuff smokes the heralded 90's stuff? I've been getting into watching some of the big matches besides Hokuto/Kandori and I've been shocked at how little it's doing for me.

A lot of modern stuff is trending up to me right now, especially as I put things side to side. That doesn't mean it will dominate my list of course, but I think the last 8 years or so (especially on the indies) will have a bigger place on my list than I though.
It will break my heart, but I likely wont have a single Regal match on my list I love him so much.
I haven't made a full draft yet, but I have sort of run through drafts of the top 25 or so a few times in my head and on paper. I am a little surprised that Misawa/Kobashi singles might slip for me. Kobashi is a top 3-5 all timer for me and I love their feud (even with all its excess). Those matches might slip for me.

Regal vs Ambrose, vs Finlay Uncensored, and vs Benoit Velocity aren't locks or anything, but they're great matches that I'll definitely consider. The Christian match at Breaking Point is also a hell of a gem that doesn't get nearly the pimping it deserves

I'll actually probably consider the Finlay Uncensored match too. Forgot about that.
That Christian match isn't a candidate or anything for me but fuck yeah it is a hell of a match.

So i was just getting ready to say that I love all those matches but I don't have them rated in the 4.75 and up range and then I checked and I haven't rated any of them for some reason. I am not quite sure why. So, maybe I need to go back and check out v Ohno, v ambrose, and uncensored. I loved his match from Superbrawl with Arn, but it is just outside real consideration. There is also a match with Benoit in Japan that I remember loving and thinking was wildly underrated. Maybe I will go back and check too.
Looks like I just got myself into a William Regal binge today. Fuck yea!
