Stan Hansen is at least a top 3 candidate for me when it comes to GWE, but I'm not sure if any of his matches will make my top 10. They will absolutely take up much of the top 50, though.

Interesting... There is a chance Hansen has as many as 5 in my top 10 by the end of it. I doubt that will happen, but there are at least 5 that will get serious consideration.
Eddie Guerrero is to me the best peak performer in wrestling history. Right now I don't have a match of his in my top 10. I think at best he will have one in the top 15.

All of my rough drafts have only have one Eddie (The WWC Tag) and two Kawada matches (6/3/94 and 6/9/95) make my top 100.

You don't even dig the Jumbo 6-mans? Seems right up your alley with how much you like the character-driven lucha 6-mans and hate filled brawling.

I like the Jumbo 6 mans quite a lot, but they tend to run together in my mind. The one from 10/90 where Kobashi's nose gets broken is the one that really stands out for me and has landed just outside my top 100 on the various rough drafts I've done. It has a shot at my final list though. Its one of like 80 matches vying for my last 25 or so spots.

Pretty surprised at how much this project is making me hate CMLL. I've been watching a lot of the pimped stuff lately alongside some lesser pimped stuff in the hopes that I'll eventually get into the "rhythm" of it, as I've heard other describe the experience. The opposite seems to be happening. Badass strike exchanges, bodypart selling, creative layouts, gritty struggle for control, and big hope spots are some of my favorite things in wrestling, so it's pretty hard for me to get into a style that seems hell bent on de-emphasizing all of those things. I find myself dreading their formula more with every match I watch, especially how they insist every stretch run be worked 50/50 with lots of laying around after hitting big moves. And I've been trying to get into it on-and-off for the past 10 years, so It's not like I'm some newbie. I'm almost at the point where I'm just starting to think if I don't get it now, I'm never gonna get it. Chicana/MS-1 1983 is looking the only match from them with a shot at my list, though there's still hope for stuff from other lucha promotions to make the list. Still plan to rewatch the big La Parka brawls and 2009-2012 IWRG stuff I remember loving at the time.

Well, I take back that Sangre/MS-1 is going to be my only CMLL match as I was blown away by Santo/Casas 1997. I'd seen it before, but always thought of it more as a novelty thing to see some Mexican BattlArts. This viewing it really jumped out at me how brilliantly the match was layed out in playing off and subverting all the annoying tropes of CMLL. I still hold that the CMLL formula is utterly toxic to great wrestling and makes WWE look like art house avant-garde shit, though I doubt I would have enjoyed the match nearly as much if I didn't see all the things that they were subverting beforehand. The cynic in me wants to say that the sole purpose of the promotion's existence was to provide a framework for the genius of Santo/Casas 1997 and its continued existence afterwards is entirely unnecessary. So, I guess this match would be my biggest surprise so far in a positive sense.

Lucha matwork has taken a massive hit for me during the course of this project. I don't know but the magic is suddenly just gone and it's just not as engaging as it used to be. Lucha in general actually has not been as good as I was hoping. Only possible exception is Satanico and even he has matches that have fallen off. Hugely disappointing.

Surprised how well post-2000 WWE is doing for me considering I'm not that high on a lot of their earlier stuff. Hogan/McMahon, Eddie/JBL, Undertaker/HBK, Lesnar/Cena, and Lesnar/Reigns are all strong candidates and there's a lot I still haven't gotten to. At this rate, WWE could end up my most represented promotion of the new millennium, which would be kind of funny considering what a purohead I am.
