OOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFF COURSE! haha Also, to the Kavadari/Elliott talk about 80s Joshi. I think that is going to be my #2 dive priority over the next year, right after the old french stuff Someone who can upload matches needs to get cap the Dump vs Yukari Ohmori match and the 10/10/85 Dump and Bull vs Crush Gals match

Austin-Angle is a rather pleasant surprise. It didn't make my ballot but I only saw it for the first time recently and thought it was great.

This 100-60 is amazing! Although some puro/joshi puro classics fell a bit, there are far more 80s and 10s representation and that's exactly what I wanted. Also, I like the fact that Okada/Omega IV almost didn't make it this time. I'm pretty sure that match won't age we at all... I know this is a very small community, but it only happened two years ago and look at that drop. A lot of it I think has to do with the fact that we don't have the exact same group of voters as we did last time. So obviously tastes and opinions will change, but a change-up will definitely cause big fluctuations.

During the covid quarantine I spent a few days ripping every match off Classics and titling them like "1985.08.28 - Chigusa Nagayo vs. Dump Matsumoto" so I can watch in chronological order rather than the random bouncing around. Totally worth it. Stylistically I like it more than the 90s stuff, even if the 90s still had most of the very very best matches. I dunno that I agree that the very best stuff was from the 90s...but I have the Dump/Chigusa matches 4 and 5 overall so I'm an outlier. But I might lean towards the 80s for top tier stuff and 90s for depth of great stuff (more footage from the 90s).

I want to dive into 80s joshi as well. I'm currently revisiting a ton of 90s joshi and it's easily the most I've enjoyed the style in aaaaaages, so I want to jump into the 80s stuff at some point after it.

99. Kazuchika Okada vs Kenny Omega (2/3 Falls - IWGP World Heavyweight Title - NJPW - 6/9/2018)Total Points: 232 Ballots: 4 High Vote (2): Kas 2019 Finish: 44
Mentioned it earlier, but I am kinda sad this match fell so far, almost off the main list. I think this probably gets a little unfairly maligned because it is long and came with enormous hype. That isn't to say it is going to be everyone's cup of tea, but I can't help but suspect that some folks (more off this board than on) don't like it for reasons completely external to the match. Glad it didn't slip further though.
97. The Destroyer vs Giant Baba (NWA International Title - JWA - 3/5/1969)Total Points: 236 Ballots: 6 High Vote (36): Cap 2019 Finish: 54
Really surprised I was the high vote on this. This is an addition for me. I think this is just splendid wrestling, but it always surprises me when I am the top vote on something pre 80s.
88. El Satanico vs Gran Cochisse (NWA World Middleweight Title - EMLL – 9/14/1984)Total Points: 268 Ballots: 5 High Vote (22): Cap 2019 Finish: 49
Also, absolutely floored that I am the high vote on this. I know 22 is high, but this is absolutely top shelf wrestling. 5 ballots also seems low to me. Yall need to get on this match.
87. Adrian Street vs. Jim Breaks (JP - 2/12/1972)Total Points: 272 Ballots: 5 High Vote (26): Jetlag, Uncledave 2019 Ballot: 158
Really happy this one made the jump into the top 100. It isn't my highest rated from the style but its probably my favorite. Another one that deserves to be on more than 5 ballots I think.
78. John Cena vs Daniel Bryan (WWE World Heavyweight Title - WWE - 8/18/2013)Total Points: 287 Ballots: 7 High Vote (22): Kadaveri 2019 Finish: 119
Cena/Bryan sneaking into the top 100 is another big victory for this year's list. Here I am presently surprised to see it on 7 ballots. I talk a lot about aging well. I think this match is going to age really well and wouldn't surprised if even more folks come around on it.
74. Kenta Kobashi vs Stan Hansen (AJPW - 4/16/1993)Total Points: 298 Ballots: 5 High Vote (13): Cap 2019 Finish: 153 Here we are again... Cap is high vote on a Hansen/Kobashi match. I saw some folks discovering or rediscovering this right before the ballot. We all have our favorites and like it when they place well. This is probably my third favorite placement on this list. Really happy to see people into this.
59. Bryan Danielson vs Takeshi Morishima (ROH World Title - ROH - 8/25/2007)Total Points: 348 Ballots: 9 High Vote (15): Kadaveri 2019 Finish: 62
Last minute addition to my list. Might finish even higher next time. I love this rivalry. Such an organically great match that could never be recreated. Being on over half the ballots is awesome.
55. Yoshiaki Fujiwara vs Nobuhiko Takada (UWFi - 10/25/1990)Total Points: 360 Ballots: 6 High Vote (4): Microstatistics 2019 Finish: 36
Pretty big slip for this match, which I am sad to see. Still, middle of the pack, there is no shame in that.
51. John Cena vs Umaga (Last Man Standing - WWE World Title - WWE - 1/28/2007)Total Points: 367 Ballots: 9 High Vote (34): Superstar Sleeze 2019 Finish: 99
Pretty big jump for this match. I am a little surprised. I am not sure I should be, but still. Totally worthy of the spot in my book. Great, unforgettable match.
43. Eddie Guerrero vs John Bradshaw Layfield (WWE Undisputed Heavyweight Title - WWE - 5/16/2004)Total Points: 407 Ballots: 11 High Vote (8): Cap 2019 Finish: 105
This match not just jumping into the top 100, but making it into the top 50 is my hands down favorite thing on this list. 11 ballots?! That is awesome. It is no secret that I am real high on this match so seeing it get so much love warms my dark little heart.

Eddie vs JBL cracking the top 100 is great. Eddie's performance is phenomenal. Okada vs Tanahashi holding it's top 50 place is also great, wasn't sure it would get enough points to stay in.

I need to revisit their big matches. When i last watched them I was not really high on modern NJPW, at least relatively so. So much of it felt like a sea of great matches that were kind of hard to distinguish and while I liked it all, it was hard for me to sort out what was really great and what was two talented wrestlers doing a good wrestling thing. I don't know if that makes sense to others. In the past year or so I have felt like I am more comfortable sorting what I really like from them/what stands out and what sort of fades into that sea of good wrestling. I have really come around on Tana in a big way. I mean I always liked him, but as I have gone back and watched some select things and kept up somewhat with what is going on now... Tana becomes more undeniably great to me.

Holy shit! Flair vs Morton is Top 40! I am just happy there will be another Flair match besides the big five against Steamboat and Funk. Those are five great matches obviously but there is so much more to Flair than his 1989 campaign. In 2019, only those five made the top 100, so happy to see a little Flair diversity.
AJ Styles fell out of the top 100, which is a bummer, but I was SHOCKED when AJ vs Joe made the Top 100 last year. #128 aint bad at all for my boy.
Tanahashi getting two of his best matches in the Top 100 is great news for the Ace of the Universe! I need to push the Nakamura Invasion Attack 2014 match more that match needs to get some love. I am glad the consensus nailed it on the best two Tanahashi matches.
Very happy to help the cause to push Kobashi/Hansen 4/16/93 over the top! That match fucking rules! I am not as sad about Kobashi/Takayama dropping because it has been a long time since I watched it. So I am not as emotionally invested in it. I am more disappointed about 10/31/98 with Misawa dropping that match should be Canon, it is so damn good. For some reason, the Canon ended with Kobashi/Kawada '98, but should be extended to include that and Misawa/Akiyama '00.
Speaking of Misawa/Akiyama '00 I am shocked how far that dropped!?!? So lean and efficient, even non-AJPW fans can find something to love in how they drop the pretense and give you a shot of adrenaline. With all the All Japan drops??? Is 6/9/95's top spot in jeopardy? Probably not, but the drama is nice.
I dropped Kobashi vs Akiyama '98 from my list because I couldnt remember a single thing from it. I gave it ****3/4 and am sure if I re-watched I loved it, but I gave the nod to other matches that stuck with me more.
I still cant believe I am a high vote on a Funk match instead of Elliot. Funks vs Hansen/Gordy is a barnburner. I really need to watch Puerto Rico already. I think I found the DVDVR set after I misplaced it. I am putting it on the list. I can see where Elliot is coming from on Hansen/Kawada '93. I was shocked I didnt end up voting it after re-watching it, but I found it to be a bit of turgid slog. I dont think it is quite as bad as he says but I get it.
You should have truncated my review of Liger/Sano to just this is..."Sano beats Liger like Liger fucked his girlfriend." There is no match I am sadder that I thought feel in my eyes than this match because I really did love it at one point. Actually I was really sad Liger/Sasuke from the J-Cup fell in my eyes. How amazing is it that Liger/Sasuke from the J-Cup almost did not even pull a single vote! Crazy! I am going to rewatch the Liger/Sano series, one of these should make my list next year!
Fujiwara/Tiger 12/5/84 DID NOT MAKE THE TOP 100?!? WHAT THE FLYING FUCK! FUJIWARA/TAKADA FELL TOO! AND VOLK VS TAMURA! Where are the Shoot Style homies? At least 1/22/97 Han vs Tamura will be Top 40. Sad ballot for Shoot-Style.
Cena/Brock and Cena/Umaga besting Cena/Punk Money In The Bank is a huge win! I was a part of the Cena/Umaga push. I didnt vote last year b/c I had not seen it recently. To go from no vote to high vote is pretty big I would imagine. Cactus having Cena/Brock at #3 is just the best! Dude can be on my team any day of the week that match rocks so hard!
Brock vs Punk should have made the Top #100 in my opinion, but other than that I agree with Brock's placement. I love Brock/AJ pulling a vote once it is 5 years old, I will most likely vote it in. I have a 5 year limit to ensure a match ages well before I vote it in.
Savage not having a Top 100 match of all time neither in 2019 nor 2020 makes me sad and most likely it will never happen. Hashimoto is closer. I think I am not aligned with other Hashimoto voters. I prefer the '94 match with Tenryu not the 93 matches or the '98 match so it splits the vote. When I finally get a chance to rewatch Hashimoto in like 5 years maybe that will change. So much wrestling to watch. Add Midnight Express not getting a Top 100 match either to my list of sadness. Add Backlund to that list and he is not even close. I think thats another one that will never change.
Looks like another big performance from Mind Games. Happy Bad Blood Hell In A Cell has done well two years in a row. Huge win for 80s US Wrestling that Rockers vs Rose/Somers continues to perform well.
2001 Austin getting two matches in the Top 100! OH HELL YEAH!
Valentine vs Piper going to have another monster year...thank you Elliot! I love The Hammer! Bock vs Hennig going to do well makes me happy. 80s Territorial Wrestling represent!

Monster drop for Misawa vs Doc - 7/28/94 a match I absolutely love and think is so genius in its layout and the performance of both men. Loved that it made it to the Top 100 last year and was ready to vote for it this year and wanted to push it into the Top 50 shocked that it fell out of Top 250!

Man, I didn't even notice Misawa vs Williams had dropped that far, what a shame. And yeah, Tanahashi/Nakamura at Invasion is so good, I have it at 3rd in their overall series.

I am also sort of disappointing in Savage not having a top 100 match. He has one that makes my list and at least two or three that are sort of fringe contenders. I suppose there are quite a few people who I wish had matches in our collective top 100.
Fujiwara vs Tiger Mask is probably on my ballot next year. I watched it again recently and i think this viewing put it over the hump as it just outclassed at least a few matches I watched down the homestretch for my ballot.
